After watching the opening game, I found only the following Rockets game plan for the new season: 1. Yao one on one; 2. Tmac one on one; 3. Artest one on one; 4. Other players one on one. People say coach Adelman is a master of game plan, yet we play ugly game. Is it because our players are dumb or what?
you gotta give the rockets a pass man... they got hardly any time together in the preseason to really mesh and get a rhythm . Not only that, this team has a history of struggling with athletic teams. The grizzlies always seem to give us fits. plus its only the 1st game of the season...
When you're a team with a bunch of great one-on-one players, and you're playing against a team with a bunch of pitiful one-on-one defenders, Im pretty sure it's a solid gameplay to go at em one-on-one.
kg one on one, paul pierce one on one, worked well for the celts didn't it? tmac and yao just missed shots they usually make. and it's the first game.
Pierce is much more efficient than T-Mac, plus he attacks the rim more. When Pierce drives he just kicks it out to Ray Allen who's the best catch and shooter in the game or to KG who is automatic from 18 ft. T-Mac doesn't attack the rim, and when he does, we don't have a Ray Allen or KG to dish it too. Yao isn't going to knock down 18 fters all day, and Ron Artest isn't a great catch and shooter. Obviously the Celtics big 3 mesh better than our big 3. That's why its so important for them to follow the offense. As of right now, only Brooks, Wafer, and Barry have shown they know how to run it.
Dude it is the first game of the season, and the first time the big 3 have played significant minutes together, what did you expect? Give it some time for ****s sake
let the hating begin, wow looks like regular season is really beginning, the hate the starting again and i hope we don't lose or else we get 8 pages of hate threads
Here's to hoping that this basketball season won't be filled with trash threads like this. How hard is NOT complain after every game we play? Of course we aren't going to work as well as the Celtics or the Lakers, our core is different from theirs. Anyways just chill, its the first game try to evaluate them after they've played for a month or so. If they played insanely well against Memphis would you have screamed CHAMPIONSHIP OMGZ? \sigh
Its still no excuse. You have 3 all stars on your team and all they can mustard up is 80 points against Memphis.
If the Rockets are going to try to play isolation basketball there is zero reason for Adelman to be in Houston. He was brought in to implement a motion offense. The Rockets looked awful tonight. No chemsitry, their timing as a team was way off, no flow to the offense. Everyone's thinking that either the Rockets blow up due to Artest or they win the championship. There's another option--mediocrity.
Pierce is not a better player than McGrady. McGrady has only been pictured as a loser due to his first round loses. All McGrady need is one playoff win to merely be ranked higher than some of the overrated players in this league. Let's hope McGrady attacks the rim more shall we?
McGrady's not passing the ball enough. How many times did the ball go into him and then everything stopped while he tried to back his opponent down, turned and fired off a jumper that missed? Of the big three he had the worst shot % and the most FGA tonight. That's not a good combination.
We have 3 players kick ass playing one on one. The Grizzlies did not respond to those plays. Why not kept going? The offense has improved a lot since Adelman coached. He got more game plans than JVG, and he's gutsy to try those plays. I'm pretty sure they'll show you some smooth motion offense in this mid-season. This team is talent enough to do that.
it's not time to hit the panic button just yet... plus although the grizz aren't an elite team, we still won and in the end that's what really matters
Fire and/or trade everybody! Yes the offense looked bad. However, i think a lot of things--opening night jitters, not enough practice time with starters, the injury to brooks(which obviously WRECKED the chemistry that the second unit seemed to have in the preseason)--ought to be blamed before we implicate the players/adleman. The motion offense takes time to develop trust. We haven't had time.
I have to agree with this, a team of rookies giving a 3 allstar vet team a run for their money. I can't start my own post but could someone update me on Tmac's ankle from last night? I was leaving for work during the 4th when I heard on the radio he was limping hard....?
reasons for the isolations plays. the starters do not have enough minutes together. Rafer did not play much during the preseason. Tmac just recover from injury. Yao still yet to find his rhythm to the game. Ron gets most of his points via isolation plays. Look at the second unit, the offense is much more fluid as they been playing the preseason. Give it a few games before the starters play the adelmen offense.
