I think we will have several close, grind it out games like this at the start of the season while we find our offensive rhythm. I do think with our depth and combinations of players we can try, we will find a way to win. Waaaay to early to judge and panic. We will see something tomorrow night. It will be interesting to see if Yao and Tmac are slower after their minutes tonight.

Yao's playing 38mins against a crappy team. Yeesh. The bench need to step it up.

Yeah, except his FG% shouldn't be that below 50%. Don't even try to tell me he played great tonight. He looked real rusty. Outrebounded by rookie Marc Gasol and got stuffed twice from him.

I didn't expect this game to be a easy win. And it turns out just like i thought.
And I think starting a season this way is better than last year. We find problems earlier so that we have more time to solve it, yet we still get a win.
So I kind of thank the Grizzlies for being so active through out the game. It really helps the Rockets to warm up for the season.

ugly..ugly..win. Offense looked absolutely terrible at times (the whole game besides the first 10 minutes). Adelman obviously hasnt figured out his rotation yet with some of the quirky mixing and matching he did. A win is a win none the less.

Other notes: Gay looked really good. I was surprised by the way Artest played D on him. For the first three quarters whenever Gay would post him up, artest would just extend his arm out onto his back and let him keep making ground towards the basket. The whole time i was yelling for artest to outmuscle him and bang his heavier body against him so he wouldnt give up his position. When he finally started doing this in the fourth, he effectively was able to to contain Gay's scoring a bit

The Cleveland Cavaliers are a far better team than the Grizzlies. Last night was their first game of the season, and I'm sure, they relished the opportunity of having the first shot at playing the defending NBA World Champion Celtics.

We should also not forget that teams will have the tendency to play their very hardest against defending champions in any sport.

One last thing, these games going on now as well as last night are the first games of the season for most of the teams playing, so for the most part, the teams playing against each other are pretty much equally fresh while there may be some teams rather rusty as well.

the team as a whole was rusty. Tmac played well at the end when we needed it. Everyone needs to make their shots.

We need battier on the bench. It was a bad shooting night. We will recover.

The Rockets must get a 7 foot big man to defend even if they sign the guy for a 10 day contract from the d-league. Yao cannot play over 34 min a night he will get hurt

Barry seemed to be the only one in the flow of the Adelman's offense, making backcuts constantly that no one anticipated. And when the shooters entered the game there was no penetration to open them up. Defintely missed Brooks tonight. Rafer never penetrated.

All is good, though. They will get in the flow soon. I bet Brooks is back for the Boston game Tuesday so I am looking forward to that game.

Hopefully they loosen up for the Dallas game tomorrow, and learned some things from tonight's game to use tomorrow.

Player of the game was by far luis scola. his hustle and defense was great. 12 points 13 boards in 25 minutes.

Also we need to fix our transition defense. tonight the grizz really exposed that weaknesses by pushing the ball up alot. either the players were to lazy to get back or there not inshape yet. another thing that worried me was ouir primeter defense. they got a ton of open looks but due to there poor shooting, they missed them. give those looks to dallas and they'll tear us to shreds.
