ok, I think I see what you're saying. the guys you mentioned can all handle the ball fluidly and always have been able to do such. I agree that fluidity isn't something that can really be developed very easily.

take bruce bowen for example. he is far from a fluid ballhandler and likely never will be. he has, however, developed a nice countermove by faking the 3 and dribbling a couple of times 4 the open shot. maybe donte can emulate that counter because I do not think he will develop into a fluid ballhandler who will create off the dribble against a squared up defender.

Donte put up a big 0-fer in over 23 minutes of play last night. Bobby Jack didn't make a shot either.

Been quiet in this thread since Greene put up 0 and 4 points in his last 2 games...

I think I'll be a huge Donte Greene fan in the future. Without his 40 pt. explosion during the summer, I bet the Artest deal doesn't go down. Rockets fans should thank him for his one game.

I think even his most fervent supporters don't expect him to be an impact rookie. Greene is a long-term investment (that I don't think will pan out to be very much). The 40-point opening summer league game will cause some people to saddle him with unrealistic expectations his entire career.

So you're saying Green is a long term investment in the same way as buying shares in certain mortgage companies might be...

    Poor kid!

    Greene's last 2 games:

    0-4
    2-7

    Tonight:

    0-1

He's got a long way to go.

On a related note, the draftee the Rockets traded away to get Donte... It appears likely that Nicolas Batum has won the Blazer's starting SF role.

On another T Mac Comparitive scenario
Roy will be looked at as a leader for this. If McGrady said put Chuck Hayes into the starting lineup so He, Yao and Artest can get more shots and he wouldnt have to guard other team's fowards, people would say he cares more about his numbers and he's not sacrificing himself for the better of the team.

Since his rookie season, Brandon Roy has demonstrated himself to be a natural leader. Tracy isn't. Simple as that. You cannot be something you aren't.

Regarding Batum, after sucking wind in summer league, he's proven he can play and fill up a stat sheet. He must make his open shots when teams back off when Roy, Aldridge and Oden are on the court to start games.
