Just like the majority of you, I'm thinking 5 or 6. Anything more than that, and I would be impressed.
My choice 6 The second unit must and (if last nights results hold true) carry the team for the first quarter of the season. Then hold on for the ride naismith
what a terrible schedual but i would choose to beat Boston, LA lakers,Hornets,,Dalas, that's only enough with 4 Wins
This is a hard schedule. Realistically I think 6. And they should be happy with that all things considered. The rest of the season will be that much easier.
i don't know how many we would win for the first 10 games, but we have to absolutely beat dallas, boston, lakers, and hornets to be considered a championship contender. dallas- because ever since that game 7, 40pt loss in the playoffs they have owned us and I hate them. boston- because they are the champs and after the preseason game, have a small rivalry going. lakers- because they our are toughest competition out west. To get to the finals we have go through them. hornets- not too concerned with them, but if we beat them the national media will be saying lakers-rockets for west finals instead of lakers-hornets. Don't care much about phoenix, san antonio and portland because they are not going to make much noise in the playoffs.
07-08 we started off 6-1 turned that into 11-9 including a 6 game losing streak oh not to mention towards the end of the season we had a 22 GAME WINNING STREAK..just to throw that out there
What? Why wasn't I told of this? The bad thing is if we have a bad start, other fans will start laughing at us. And then when we go on to beat up on other teams when our schedule gets easier, they talk about how the schedule is favoring us. I voted 7 but if I look at the ten teams that we are playing, which should have been in OP but wasn't, I would have voted 6 and be happy if we get that. We need time to get comfortable as a team before we get this kind of schedule. Blowing out LA and BOS and losing the other 8...might be fine with me. But it has to be a brutal beating where Kobe cries and Garnett dies in a plane crash.
Let's go with 6. On a side note... Kenny the real "Jet" Smith is picking the Rox to win it all this year.
ohh yeah and my thoughts about the first 10 games memphis-W (no way we lose this) dallas-W (i dont see them as a threat anymore..actually never did) oklahoma city-W (seriously..) boston-W (battier/artest will stop allen/pierce) portland-L (something just tells me we will lose this game) clippers-W (YOU CANT ****IN STOP ME...enough said) lakers-W (we will show everyone who the best in the west is) phoenix-L (will blow this game, bc we always happen to have one) spurs-W (HOUSTON is the best in TEXAS now) hornets-W (once again, we are the best in the west) 8-2.
I say 4; tough schedule, no Shane and it will take time for the team to gel. But that doesn't mean I don't have high hopes for the season, even if they just limp along at .500 until the All Star break. It's the putting it all together in April May and JUNE I care about. And I feel certain they will.
Thats a tough schedule. I would rather see us meet these teams in January and not to start the season, this team has not gelled yet. Mcgrady didn't play for most of the preseason, Battier didn't play at all and Yao has not looked as good as he did before last years injury. I am expecting better but if we went 5-5, it won't mean much, it's our midseason performance against the Lakers, Celtics, Hornets that will tell where we are.
Remember the last year. The losses against Grizzlies, Heat and six game losing streak. Then sun shined over Rockets and 22 winning streak came. So I won't be surprised if we start bad, I just hope chemistry works good ASAP.
It seems Rockets are always off to a bad start and in the top 10 on nbadraft.net's mock draft early in the season before we pick up the pace. I won't be surprised if we'd be at, if not, under .500 after 10 games. It seems we always pick it up immediately before all-star break. After the break we play like champs.
7-3 at the worst c'mon guys at least have faith in the Team, they can't double Yao as much anymore, that right there makes us a WAYYY better team than last year...i think we can at least pull off 7 of those 10, Boston, Lakers, Spurs being the toughest out of those teams..
