Very interested to see what will happen to the Harris county judiciary. Dallas turned all their GOP's into Dems a few years back. I don't want to see that happen, because there are some good GOP judges I want to stick around.

I'm very interested in the mayoral race going on in my town which none of you probably give a damn about. :D LOL! Also the lottery issue on the state ballot, I hope it passes so state dollars quit flowing into Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, and Louisiana.

I'm living in Williamson County these days. I wish we could find a stronger democratic challenger to John Carter. The larger that the Wlliamson Cty. population gets, the closer to the center it gets. Unfortunately, this is the best Wilco Dems could come up with...

    Brian Ruiz

Seems like a nice guy...but no one that can take on an established candidate like Carter in a heavily red county like WilCo.

I will be interested in the race for the district I moved from. I'm really hoping Larry Joe Dougherty takes down Mike McCaul.

Everyone should take a look at the [edit]State Board of Education[edit] elections - right now, the Texas SBOE is full of right-wing loonies who are messing with the state curriculum (on evolution, Bible study classes and more). They're currently trying to get a book called Explore Evolution - which is written by two strong proponents of intelligent design - added to the curriculum.

Although I'm a liberal, I can understand some of the reasons why many voters prefer the conservative/Republican candidates. But this is just crazy - I don't want today's students receiving a substandard education just because a few wingnuts want to make religious philosophy and science one and the same.

Texas Senate District 17. It's a special election with 4 Republicans and 2 Democrats (including the "I'll run for anything" Chris Bell). Kyle Janek tried to resign in the Spring, so that it could be on the ballot, but Perry didn't accept his resignation until after the primaries. I'm in SD4, but SD17 starts about 1.5 miles from my house. The only candidate that has been to Port Arthur is Joan Huffman, and she's been endorsed by chambers of commerce and small business associations. Local labor unions are making Chris Bell their "main candidate", and pulling out all of the stops for him.

There will probably be a run-off between Bell and Huffman, and it looks to be a classic knock-down drag out between labor unions and business owners. Should be fun.
