Butler stated that he's not coming out. Earlier in the season, he said that if Uconn made the Sweet 16, he'd take that as a sign that they could win the title the year after. Combine that with a great recruiting class, and... well, if he stands by his word, he's staying.

Of course, I'd view that as a rather luke-warm commitment, since he doesn't really care about graduating, and he's already played his way into the lottery.

I think he'd be a great pick at 6 or 7. I think he'll be better than people expect - can do just a bout anything, thought he needs to improve defensively a bit. Incidentally, if his teammate Okafor, manages to develop a post game... he'll be super dangerous.

    My own list would be:

    Williams
    Ming
    Gooden
    Woods
    Wagner

But since I'd rather have Gooden, I hope it goes Willams, Ming, Woods, Wagner, Gooden. I suppose it's possible :).

I hear you. But, I think Mike is quicker than Walt. Make no mistake, Walt was a STUD out of college. The wizard. He could do it all. Now he's zero-dimensional.

Walt had a decent rookie year I believe.

Considering Steve's headache problems, wouldn't you rather have someone like Wagner to plug in rather than the little dribbler? Wagner is a clone of Steve and may even be a better scorer. And, if you still consider Wagner redundant, then how does Kwame Brown not fit into the redundacy factor?

If Odom comes back from his wrist injury, I think he would be a real boon for the Rockets, but I don't think the Clips will trade him to us, a competing Western Conference team.

    True, so very true.

A bit off topic, but why is everyone so high on Duhon? He's a solid PG who can hit a few Js and defend a bit, and granted the spotlight has been on Williams all year, but comparing him to Isiah Thomas?!?!

Personally, I think Williams deserves all the accolades he gets. Certainly as dominant as a college guard that easily comes to mind since Allen Iverson.

It is most of the rest of the Dukies that are totally overrated because defenses are trying to contain Williams, and to some extect, Boozer.

I see a fine college player in Dunleavy right now, but not a great college player (let us see how he adjusts to double team next year) or even a decent looking pro. Unless he grows another inch and puts on 25 lbs while getting more athletic (this is possible if he is still growing) he looks like a lotto bust to me.

Quote from the Arizona Daily Star (which correctly note Williams and Boozer as the key players in the SE region)---"BIGGEST FLOPPER: Mike Dunleavy (Duke): He goes down quicker than a dot-com. As easy as a margarita. More often than Chuck Wepner. Don't forget to tip your waitress" (Who knows who Wepner is???)

Also Ewing to me has far more pro potential to me than Duhan (and I said this before the recent game).

enbehay-First of all Wagner is not a PG. He and Mobley would make a horrible backcourt combo, and if you want him to take minutes from TLD, TLD will have to be traded-his fresh contract won't be forced to the bench when there are easier, and potentially better ways around it. Personally, I'd like to get a quick defensive PG in place of him (like Tyronn(sp?) Lue) to back Steve.

Kwame is not redundant because he'd be groomed as a center, and presumably KT would be traded.

Comparing our frontcourt needs to our backcourt needs is a lopsided proposition.

    Odom would be intriguing.

Oh Live, I misunderstood. I thought somebody compared Jason Williams to Isiah, which I didn't think was that bad. JW should be mentioned in the same breath as Isiah and AI based on college performance, of course the pros is a different matter.

Comparing Duhan to Isiah is equally bad or worse as it is to compare Dunleavy to Bird. These "comparers" need to take their nose out of Dickie V's, who is in Mike K's, you know what's. If we see JW and Boozer go pro a whole another side of these guys weaknesses will be exposed. If Duke remains at the top it will be because of Ewing and new blood.

Everyone here seems to be pretty certain that Wilcox will be coming out. Has he said he will be entering the draft? For some reason I was under the impression that this was the first season in which he got significant minutes and that he would be staying through next season. What's the story on that front?

Does anyone think that Amare Stoudamire could be a top ten pick?

I dunno, what happens if the scouts come out and measure him @ 6'8"? IMO, because the highschool guys don't have quite as much contact with the impartial observer types they are more likely to be subject to variability. I'd say that that was what happened to both Ousmane Cisse and the guy from Hargrave that was drafted in the second round several years ago by the Pistons (edit: Korleone Young).

Wasn't it Kwame who repeatedly stressed that he wants to be a PF -- not a center --- and that's why Washington acquired Haywood?

Ewing will be lucky to be in the NBA. 6 ft 3 SGs who are slashers more than a shooter, are a dime a dozen in the NBA. While Duhon is the best pure PG prospect in the college game.

Isn't Ewing more like 6'4" or 5"? He towers over Duhon and Williams.
