From what I see on here there is much more hate for religion in general than what I would have believed.

Nope, its the love of freedom of speech and the freedom to vote and donate my hard earned money where I please.

Here's the anti-rightwingnut revolution... you say something "stupid" and your opponent gets money. It's pretty simple. If you call somebody un-american, a pig, a socialist, a terrorist sympathizer, etc... then this country is determined to make sure that you belong no where near a seat of power.

    Real America will prevail ;)

The word 'hate' is rather strong.

People don't hate religion ...but they do hate hipocracy.

For example, the very same people professing to be pro-life are the same people who support the war in Iraq. How can you be pro-life but support war?

That's just one example. The neocon right have hijacked "religion" to promote their political agenda ...which creates seemingly never ending contradictions.

...which is why our founding fathers mandated seperation of church and state ...something that the neocons ACTIVELY try to defeat ...yet another contradiction.

How can you be PRO-AMERICA yet constantly work to modify the constitution (gay marriage) to suit your religous preferences which the constitution expressly forbids?

    I don't get it.

That's what I hate ...the hypocrocy.

The problem is relgion in this country can be used to justify wrong doing, just like it did with SLAVERY.The reason american slave owners had no problem with degrading and oppresing other human beings is because they claimed "that's what god wanted".What i'm saying is, that it was so called good white christians, who believed in THERE morals, while disrespecting other and ignoring others .The use of relgion can be dangerous, when forged with government, just ask the middle eastern people.

This is amercia and people should have the right to choose their own relgion with out prejudice and ridicule from anybody and especially people on this board.

Maybe I misunderstood here what you meant. Either way I took it as a confirmation that "liberals hate religion."

To preface... I don't believe in tagging somebody, with a rational line of thinking, as a liberal or conservative. A rational person can intuitively decide where he/she stands on each individual issue. Personally, I'm an independent that is currently anti-Republican at the moment.

I work 6-7 days a week as a petroleum landman and I am proud to be jewish in a country that allows me to live a normal life (something that was not possible in the past). I never judge somebody based on their religious beliefs and I honestly can't stand people who, as krosfyah said it well, are freaking hypocrites.

    Maybe:
    1. People are fed up with the Republican party. We had the dirty congress that impeached Clinton and then an idiot (yes Casey, you are smarter than GWB) as president that has waged a war that the majority of the country currently disagrees with. Not to mention the hijacking of the supreme court that would be done if McCain was elected. A democratic president and democratic congress IMO would balance the past decade of crap that republican nonsense has created.

    2. Obama is just a better choice to lead this country. I'll take the guy who was raised in humble beginnings and worked his butt off over a spoiled navy brat who dumped his disabled first wife for the nice and shiny rich "four letter word that starts with C" (I only use that b/c johnypoo called her that).

    3. "Liberals" as they are coined don't give a damn about how you practice your religion. In fact, they want you to love jesus, go to church and appreciate your family. But for the love of god, be tolerant of others and keep religion out of politics.

I'm currently working in NW Kansas. If you drive along the freeway you probably get an anti-abortion sign ever 3 miles or so. My choices on the radio are NPR and "Patriot" Radio. I actually enjoy listening to the arguments of the right... but it has just gone too far. While Bachmann never said "liberals are un-american", she did not give one hint that she disagreed with Matthews when he asked her if she was linking the two. Most of these talk show hosts speak with so much anger when talking about the left that they are actually emboldening the opposition! A cool 1 million USD to Bachmann's opponent proves this.

    Power to the people baby.

Who is starting this bull**** "Real American" meme?

That carefully weaved shorthand for Republican racism is slowly beginning to unravel... likely because their recent generation of leadership is ideologically myopic to the reality around them.

Before, decent minded Republicans could be innocent of the filth some of their selective leaders float around or at least make a good case otherwise. Now it's blatantly obvious. Too bad the standard response hasn't changed. "You're the racist one for even bringing it up!"

Republicans need to clean house and fast. I don't like one party leadership, and it isn't good for the nation in the long run.
