I am really a status quo guy although I am not opposed to trading Francis. I mean it has to be the right offer. I am open to the idea because I am, and have been all season long, not too impressed with his pg skills. I know he has been injured but having watched most games 2 times this season, I know I am on to something when I suggested that Wink take a back seat and intensely go over the ins and outs of the games of Magic, Thomas, Stockton and Kidd. I just cannot see how that could not help Francis more efficently run this team. Afterall he is the pg on a team last in fg% or close to it and last in fast breaks. Put it differently insert Kidd into the same games Wink played without the migranes and our fast breaks would be higher. We do not have to trade him if he could make the subtle changes to his game; afterall he is special talent. I also think that he is not mature enough and have not been able to control himself and game. As a result he is now suffering all kinds of ailments, trying to dunk on a big man. Nowhere in his contract does it call for dunking on a big man. How do you think Stockton is able to rack up 15000 assists? By playing alot of games! KISS!
Here's the way I look at it. Worse case scenario is that Ming is athletically and fundamentally the same as Bullard at similar age. If Ming can run like Bullard, jump like Bullard, shoot like Bullard, pass like Bullar, and has a top notch understanding of the game like Bullard, exactly how good can a 7'6" Bullard be. A 7'6" Bullard, worse case. Is that better than a 6'3" Kobe who can't go a whole game without slipping while dribbling the ball off his feet . No one denies Francis is not the solution. Hell, status quo is just fine with me, too, because Stevie surely will improve his dribbling...won't he With superstars, you must be very critical of them, more than other players, because superstars always have humongous trade value. Let's say KT didn't improve. So, we all say, well, the KT guy sucks! He is NOT the solution. So, what does that accomplish. He would just be trade fodder at that point. The key is deciding to keep superstars forever or cash in on that value for another superstar who might (or is) a better solution. Isn't that what Fantasy Leagues is all about. Do Sim'ers really discuss Walt, Cato and Langhi for Odom? Ming is one mighty fine franchise player. He could be revolutionary. His potential is way past any center in the draft since Duncan, and the #1 team in the draft (Chicago) just so happens to not need a center and they want a PG. Fancy that!!! puedlfor Explain why you say Jamal Crawford is not a PG. Give me your assessment rather than a one-liner dismissal, please. I've been unfortunate to have not seen him play, but many considered him the best PG in the draft last year. No?
You are right on crispee. I have him in a keeper league and refuse to sell based on his low value from this season. As far as francis, I just prefer add ming to steve and eddie and cuttino, rather than add ming but subtract steve. I don't like what that accomplishes. Don't get me wrong, I like Ming too, but I want an inside-outside game and steve-mobley, ming-eddie would be lethal. I mean I just get sick of all these steve for practically nothing developed trades yet.
that would be luscious indeed. There is little doubt that given the chance, we will make Ming our pick. But how far would you go to pry that pick out of someone who really wants Ming. Would you take Ming and Battier for Francis. That would solve two positions and give up one, but you have a pick still. Sounds like a bad trade from Memphis's standpoint to me. imo, Chicago would do almost any trade we make as long as it involves Francis. It's like taking candy from a baby. You end up with Ming, Crawford and our #6 pick. drool!! excuse me, I get this way over 7'6" Bullards. drool!!
He was considered the best PG in the draft, IMO, because he was 1) Young, 2) Tall, 3) Could handle the Ball. Draft Hype Commences When I watch him play, he doesn't seem to make things happen when he has the ball - he seemed to have problems creating for himself or others. When he's at his best is moving sans the ball, and scoring off of someone else creating a shot for him, assuming his shot is on that day - its been iffy.
Everyone miss my suggestion that we trade for Ben Wallace who by the way got 28 boards and 6 blocks today? Everyone is wanting to make the blockbuster trade to totally revamp the team. Have we lost site that the teams who win, develop chemistry. Which by the way was one of the main reasons why we won our 2 championships...that and Hakeem. Our team cannot win if we keep changing major positions on the team every year. Although, I must say that I like everything about Hottoddie's TRADE ACCEPTED scenario if we get the first pick, chicago gets the 2nd and memphis gets the third. I would love for us to be able to relieve our draft debts and still retain some valuable pieces while ridding us of some baggage.
Why would Detroit trade the cornerstone of their "return to the bad boys" defense? We's have to get rid of EG and prob draft picks to get him
That is a little steep...just depends on what they prefer in their PF, more offense in Kenny or defense in Ben.
Ben Wallace is a solid player/rebounder *ahem* Popeye JOnes *ahem*, but I would not trade Eddie for him.
The whole thing with Ben that is the main reason for him would be to play C...if he is truly 6'8 like some of you are saying and not 6'10 like I've heard, then we don't need him. We already have enough PF's
