That's why I'd take Wafer over Luther right now. Wafer IS a roll of the dice...but there's a chance. Luther has shown skill, but we all know when he falters. All this Wafer/Strawberry hype, I think the shining star of this game is Aaron Brooks. He had his best game in a Rockets uniform ever. He established his offense, and then passed the ball around. Before, he would force passes to get assists. Hopefully, he actually learned, and this is not a flash in the pan
in the first half i thought DJ was playing his way on the team. he attacked and got to the line. we need a guard who can penetrate like DJ. then the 2nd half came and wafer shot the lights out. however it was only one game. wafer's not this hot all the time. wafer's a lot like luther because they're both one dimensional. this is a tough decision.
I agree with that roster, except..... Switch the positions of Strawberry and Wafer, and replace Harris with Hayes.
That's exactly what will happen. Head will be traded for a 2nd round pick, and Harris is going back to China. Strawberry and Wafer are your new Rockets!
not many 3 point shooters can perform well in playoffs. If Head did nothing there, Wafer will do nothing either. 3 point shooting is not reliable unless you have other skills to back it up. it is an easy choice: DJ over Wafer. Again, anyone can get free throws is the winner.
and if both Wafer and Strawberry suck the next game, it's OMG CUT THEM IMMEDIATELY THEY SUCK DaDa's influence on the board...
I don't know how you can keep head when these guys are playing so great. btw, Why hasn't Harris had any PT? Is he hurt?
Definitely give credit to AB for opening shots up for these guys. Brent Barry influence? Admittedly Luther's only had 13 shots this preseason and just 4 three point attempts. Just showing how Head is being slammed for being "Head again" when really he hasnt done anything to ruin himself. Somewhat fair and balanced... But the stats will favor Wafer after they get updated.
i will answer D. Indeed, this is the only topic we can dicuss for now since it is just the preseason, and this is the only thing that left uncertain. Anyway, I will take D.J over wafer. But I really hope we can keep both. The last 3 by Wafer was crazy!
DJ Strawberry has height and penetration skills, while Von Wafer's performance is mostly dependable on his shooting feelings... If one day Von's hands are cold, he is barely useful... If I were the GM, I would keep DJ Strawberry. I don't wanna witness another Azubuki-like tragedy.
wafer or strawberry? We should keep Aaron Brooks. Aaron did an amazing job to cut the defense open and send the ball comfortably to them
Head will be trade later, Deke will sign later, and we dont need any new players now. 13players + Deke: PG Rafer Alston / Aaron Brooks / Steve Francis SG Tracy McGrady / Brent Barry / Head SF Ron Artest / Shane Battier PF Luis Scola / Carl Landry / Hayes CF Yao Ming / Deke / Joey Dorsey
I wonder how many other teams in the league are having this hard of a time figuring out who to cut on players who may never play a meaningful minute the entire season. This year's going to rock
Fast forward to the 2009 playoffs, a crucial game 7, closing minutes, Yao has fouled out, Tmac is playing with a sore knee and Ron is being doubled. Scola passes off to luther and what happens? If he's wide open he shoots the 3 and has a 50% of making it. However, if he's being guarded, he's stuck. He won't/can't drive to the hoop. He can't get off his shot with a man in his face. That's what i hate about him. Sure he's shooting great now and will throughout the season. More than likely because teams gamble more as they try to finalize their rotations. In the playoffs the game is slower, more halfcourt. This means defenses will be set most of the time. This is where he starts to suffer. He's inconsistent because one game the defense doubles our stars, leaves luthers open and he makes his threes. The next game they adjust, cover him, and he goes 2 for 8, but Yao and Tmac get theirs. Defense adjusts again next game and so on. His succes always depends on how they play him. I like the fact that wafer has shown the ability to not only hit jumpers, but also drive strong to the hoop. Look at the last 3 he hit tonight, the height on his jumper, the space he created, not many bench guys have the ability to get their shot off like that. How many times last year did Houston fail to score with the clock winding down? Many times they didn't even get a shot off. Here's a guy who may not be a dependable scorer like the big 4, but the guy can get his shot. He's not limited by a team's defense because he can drive or shoot. He reminds me a bit of Ray Allen in the way he always squares up to the basket on his shot and has a consistent release. He may not play great D, but the Rockets excel at team D. They help out, hustle, and have solid defensive talent around the court in rafer, battier, ron, hayes, and a shot blocker in Yao. They don't need another individual defender in Strawberry. Coach Adelman is more likely to look down his bench and wonder "who can come in and play offensively around one of our stars", than "who can come in and play defense for us". I'm leaning more toward Wafer because of this.
