Only New York could lose to an Iverson-less Sixers team. I mean, c'mon. New York has some serious issues and they are in a big hole because of all the stupid contracts they have give. Houston worth $100 million? No. Charlie Ward is getting paid like a starter but he's a backup, nothing more. And I won't even get to Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley....boy, did Houston and Dallas see the Knicks coming or what?!? It's a going to be a tough few years, Knicks fans. My prayers are with you :D .

Houston took on Rice so i fail to see how we "saw them comming"
Shandon, if nothing else, is a healthy body

"Took on" Rice? HE'S HURT!!! And even when he was walking on one leg he averaged more than Anderson and Eisley COMBINED. Any other Knick fan who has any sense knows that that trade did nothing for the Knicks. They got another SF in Anderson (wasn't that the reason they traded Rice? cuz they had too many SFs?). Then they got ANOTHER point guard. Yeah, sounds like they know what they're doing.

The Knicks have incurred the highest payroll in the league yet are eight games below .500 - thanks to the bloated $11+ million/yr contracts of Houston and Sprewell, not to mention the overpaid Shandon Anderson and the money still being meted out to the retired Johnson and Longley (who was waived after playing 300 minutes with New York). The team is a sheer travesty and epitomizes the crappy state of its conference.

Can any of you think of a time when any NBA conference was doing as poorly compared to its counterpart as the current Eastern Conference? Viewing the top four playoff prospects in light of recent injuries...

    1- New Jersey:
There is much hype surrounding the team as it clinches a playoff birth for the first time since Van Horn's rookie year. Kittles' return and MacCulloch's acquisition have been much more instrumental than the arrival of the statistically overrated Kidd. Martin and Jefferson (more so than former teammate Gilbert Arenas) are emerging punks in the league.

    2- Detroit:
It is good to see that the overrated Stackhouse's minutes have dropped. His declining offensive role is best shown by the fact that he now averages more rebounds than turnovers. Wallace has shown much improvement defensive powerhouse but needs to work on his mid-range game. I hope Jim O'Brien wins the Coach-of-the-Year award over former Celtic scrub Rick Carlisle.

    3- Boston:
The Celtics have pulled off a steal by trading Joe Johnson (who is getting quality minutes in Phoenix) and a CBA-quality point guard for shooters Delk and Rogers. The latter must be resigned or the team's future looks bleak. Pierce is the best player in the Eastern Conference and should've made an All-Star start. Joe Forte, in his six games, has proven why he wasn't a lottery pick and should've remained in school; how is Omar Cook liking it in the NBDL?

    4- Milwaukee:
Underachievers with a very poor outlook. They are capped out for seasons to come, stuck with Allen, Cassell, Robinson, Thomas, Johnson, Caffey and Mason until at least 2005. Like the Sixers, a once promising franchise that is now struggling to stay above .500.

Campare them to the teams out west that have already clinched playoff berths...

I live near Philly so I have a 10 game season ticket to Sixers games, even though I don't like (actually hate) the Sixers. I was going to go to the game with my dad, but I decided to let my mom go with my dad, because I wanted to watch the Maryland game. Thank God I didn't go. My dad is a Sixers/Rockets fan. He said it was the most boring game he had ever seen. He actually left in the 3rd quarter, even though the Sixers were up by a couple, because he said 'it was aweful'. I watched part of it on tv, and it almost put me to sleep.

Scott Layden has to be one of the biggest idiots ever. He never could improved the Jazz and now he has made the Knicks into a laughing stock.

I've said this before...Houstons contract is THE worst ever in NBA history.

100 M for a shooting guard...who is not even an all star...:whose never won anything...who has never carried a team...rolleyes:

To make it worse, they already have a better SG in Spreewell.

Kidd is the best point guard in the NBA, just look at Phoenix if you don't believe me.

If anything Stack is underrated. I have never seen this guy praised, ever.

Have you seen him shoot FT's? I would hate to see how bad he would be with someone guarding him. The guy is worse than Cato on the offensive end.

While the deal is not bad for them since Johnson would play behind Pierce, I would ot say it was a steal. I think they could have done better.

Not bad players to be stuck with, if you ask me.

Glen is only, like, 36. If anything he'll come back better because I don't think he's ever had major career season-ending surgery before (if i'm wrong please feel free to correct me). His major injury the last two years has been his knee and THAT IS WHAT HE HAD SURGERY ON!!!! He'll come back with something to prove. I really don't see how ANYONE could say that that Rice deal favored the Knicks. Basically the Knicks gave up a guy who averaged 12 points for them for two guys who average less than 12 combined!

Shandon is a healthy body with a six year contract, compared to three years on Rice's...
