Well we drafted him to be a shooter and he shot well for us. He stinks at everything else, sure, but I liked watching him shoot because I always felt like it was a sure swish.

The Steve Novak love-fest is still a little puzzling. By next season it will be flat out annoying and three years from now it will be hilarious.

The guy is not a decent NBA player. He hits wide open 3 pointers and that's it. He isn't someone who can play meaningful minutes on decent teams no matter how many times he has a decent game against non-NBA players in the preseason. Just being on someone's roster and getting a paycheck for the next 5 years is his best case scenario.

But Novak isn't a "sure swish" and is terrible at getting open. Most of the time he just runs around aimlessly on offense (except in pre-season when defenses don't give a flip). Novak isn't a good offensive or defensive player. He stinks at both ends which is why he rarely gets on the floor. If he was more than just a shooting statue on offense, Novak would still be a Rocket. Very poor basketball instincts; thinks too much.

novak may be bad at everything else when it comes to the NBA, but he is about as sure a swish as there is in the league. given the inconsistent time he got, he was amazingly good at hitting shots. and on open shots it was practically a layup. he was reggie miller automatic on the open shots. i think he might be the purest shot i've seen. or at least i've never seen someone with a purer shot. unfortunately, he's slow and unathletic and as bad on D and at rebounding as he is good at shooting.
