There is probably a real obvious answer to this question I'm about to ask. Whereas you can find video clips of just about every famous NBA highlite, usually even that same day, I'm wondering why there's absolutely no MLB clips on youtube save for some amateur digital recordings. For as infamous as that Pujols homer off Lidge was, I'm a bit shocked that it's nowhere to be found on youtube (again except for some amateur digital recordings). Does MLB just enforce their copyright policies more effectively than the NBA? The reason I ask is because I was hoping to find a clip of Pujols' first at-bat in Game 6 against Oswalt where he almost fell down.
Dude, someone posted it here a few months back when I asked for the same thing. MLB had it on its website (of course). I tried for a couple hours to rip it and struck out. But, I'm far from knowledgeable at that sort of thing.
All the videos: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/ps/y2005/video.jsp?view=null Look towards the bottom. The beautiful Roy O K is right at the beginning of this one: http://mlb.mlb.com/media/player/mp_...ext/ps/y2005/ws.jsp&cid=mlb&fid=mlb_tp350&v=2 In case that link doesn't work, lemme try it this way: Oswalt's mastery
Don't mention it. That is one of my favorite at-bats in MLB history. Seriously. That one had me more elated than Hatcher's home run or even Burke's home run. The context was just so freaking cool. I was jumping up and down in my living room like an idiot. I *wish* that thing would surface as an FLV or GIF or something which could be ripped and kept personally.
Same. I would love to own a clip of that strikeout in it's full context - Pujols walking to the plate, and then pitch by pitch with FOX commentary. I'm sure people recorded that game - I wonder why noone has bothered to rip and upload that.
As good as Oswalt was in that Game 6, thinking about that really disappoints me. It's really a shame Lidge fell apart in the postseason, namely Game 5. If we were able to beat the Cardinals in 5, we had our rotation perfectly setup for the White Sox. We'd have Oswalt for Game 1, 4, and 7, and perhaps Clemens would be able to pitch more innings since he'd get an extra day or 2 of rest.
Meh. It's a hell of a lot less disappointing that 2004, 2001, 1999, 1998, 1998, 1986, and 1980. It's even less disappointing than 1981 and 1996. And it's light years better than the rest of the 80s, all of the 70s, and all of the 60s.
It's what I hear Richard Justice say, so take it with a grain of salt, but MLB.com is supposedly a cash cow for them so I assume they'd rather you watch the clips on their website as opposed to youtube.
But Clemens would have been pitching in even worse weather in game 2.... unless they hold him for game 3 to pitch in what was then thought to be a controlled environment (until Bud makes us open the roof... looking back, that looks even more sleazy by MLB to actually force a team to open a roof). The bottom line is that they should have won game 2 easily... but Qualls gives up a grand slam on one pitch. They also should have won game 3 easily, but Oswalt implodes (in much better weather/enviornment than he would have had in chicago). Then, game 4 comes... and the Astros can't score a run to save their lives, despite PLENTY of opportunities. The better team won that series... no matter how the pitching would have been aligned.
Anybody seen this movie? I was thinking about purchasing it after watching a playoff special they on on FSN the day after the regular season ended. It should bring back some good memories.
I watched the replay from the game 4 ending dp againts the cards last night over and over, a thing of beauty.
Right. A while back I posted a clip on youtube of Barry Bonds making fun of his alleged steroid use. Youtube deleted it because it used mlb game footage from their own broadcasts (your own personal camera recording is fine). A friend of mine posted a commercial with the Astros 1987 marketing slogan (Who Says it Only a GAME!) shown on Houston "20 Vision", and youtube deleted THAT even. *here's the embedded placeholder image of it for the heck of it, though its been long deleted http://houstonist.com/2006/06/20/who_says_its_on.php)*
loved it...just amazing. double play is my favorite thing in all of sports...and that one was just classic.
