This argument doesn't fly anymore now that the alternative to Hayes is an old Juwan Howard. Scola, Landry and now Artest are all guys who can play PF with the first two being "pure" PF type players. Do you really think Chuck would not get minutes on other teams when he finds significant minutes on this team despite it being filled with PFs?

doubtful....its obvious he's only starting b/c of preseason. But I think it'd be a good idea to start Hayes if we're playing against Car-lose boozer.

    I am being honest, too.

The fact that it was Wafer starting and not Strawberry was irrelevant to the point I was making. You were picking on a detail so I did the same. It is not even a remote possibility that Hayes starts unless there are multiple injuries to the two or three guys ahead of him in the rotation.

Exactly. There are definitely situations where Hayes is our best option. 95% of the time, though, he isn't.

It's the battle of my favorite player monikers!

Soon all the Stevie monikers and Yao monikers will come in and make quick work of both of you.

Brooks, go ahead and ask for the 10 digits, you stud.

I assume Aaron is still in the locker room or doing an interview right about now. Who knows, maybe he's interested in Hayesfan but I doubt he's reading this.

It has been WELL DOCUMENTED that I am against starting Hayes. Nothing has changed on that front. Why start the game at a disadvantage? Artest, Scola and Landry all are better 4 options to start the game.

Agreed. At the same time, Hayes is one of the premier low-post defenders in the league and has an extremely high bball IQ. I love having him as an option off the bench.

Landry also seems to be coming around defensively. Imagine if Dorsey starts figuring things out by mid-season. We would have Scola, Landry, Artest, Hayes and Dorsey as PF options. 3 or 4 of those guys could be strong defensively (Artest, Hayes, Dorsey, Landry maybe) and 3 are already solid offensively (Scola, Landry, Artest).

We are in good shape at the PF position. We are also looking good at SG and SF. The question marks right now are PG and backup C. We could definitely use more length in our frontcourt.

Yea i agreed that Hayes is a situation player. Like if we're up and you want to play it safe by playing tough defense, then you want Hayes in there.

As Morey said, Carl Landry is the future prototype of PFs, you want someone that is quick and agile and athletic to be able to do things quicker at that position and Landry fit that mode. If you start Scola, he has the size but he isn't any better than Landry when it comes to defense. Offensively Landry is a better shooter and Landry is a better dunker and finisher...also Landry can drive and quick at dunking....and he is athletic enough to outjump anyone for the rebound. Scola isn't bad, he is tenacious and hustling and .....but not as athletic as Landry and that is a big no...you know why?? Because just imagine Landry's man going over to double Yao, Yao can pass to him and he is able to finish the drive for layup or dunk much quicker than Scola due to his ability to drive and rise up. Scola get his driving shot block easier due to his inability to rise up as high as Landry. As far as Hayes...that is a big no...they're going to leave him alone and double our man and Hayes can't dunk or finish quicker than the other 2 PFs. If there is one concern about Landry is the lack of size...but between him and Scola, both defense a bit suspect anyway but at least Landry has better upside and potential due to his ability to rise up and finish at the hoop making him much MUCH more dangerous weapon. Even more so now that he has jump shot!!

Here is an idea... Start Hayes every so often in the 2nd half, like Rudy sometimes did with Cassell. Why? At halftime teams will make adjustments trying to counter our defense. Once they come out they can throw the new schemes away. You now have Hayes and Artest out there.

I think Adelman, like most coaches, will always stick with something that's working. I don't think he'll change the lineup in anticipation of an adjustment from the other team. He'll wait until the adjustment is made and is successful before making a change.

I swear sometime you just like to be confrontational. I was trying to help... not be an arse. How fricking often do I come on here and post things just to be nasty? Never.

and v3.0... that's why females hate to post here, because people like you have to make an issue out of it. Grow up.

Man...i can't wait to see the lineup of Yao Artest Battier Tmac and Barry. I am certain you're going to see this lineup more often on the floor than any other lineups under intense situation. Either that or Yao Landry Artest Battier and Tmac or Barry.

I apologize. I was wrong earlier. A lot of people here get confrontational and that causes other people to go take it out on somebody that doesn't deserve it. You didn't deserve it. It's like a nasty chain reaction internet thing. I need to grow up at times. So do a lot of other people.
