Mario will double his sack count after the Detroit game. Detroit already has 22 sacks allowed in 5 games
Ya...I didn't mean to throw Amobi under the bus. But the point of my post was that I'm wondering how much the lack of production can be blamed on scheme vs. talent. A 6 to 1 ratio is downright disturbing.
I admit, I was one of the biggest doubters of this entire organization when they drafted Williams over RB or VY. But this kid is simply amazing and sick. Now I laugh at myself for thinking this was the worst decision ever made.
Exacto. I was impressed with Mario playing the run just as well as the pass (rushing the QB). Can play anywhere he is asked on the D-line...I'm biased, but the best complete DE? Very likely...
And he had the defensive play of the game by whiffing on the run blitz to let Ronnie Brown score to give us the ball back with plenty of time left to go back and get the winning score J/K, kid played a great game - but we got fortunate that Brown scored when he did to save our timeouts and maximize the clock for when we got the ball back. I'm really hoping that we get to 3-4 and have a chance at .500 when we play the Vikings....
the thing that has impressed me most this year about Mario is his ability to completely shut down his side against the run game. I knew the sacks would eventually come but after watching him make play after play against running plays marios game is definately on an elite level
and they got fortunate that the int was fumbled and they recovered it...we could play "fortunate" card all day.
Maybe he's just been flying under the radar of Mario, but Demeco's having a down year compared to his amazing last 2. Like I'd remember in every game Demeco being in on almost every single tackle and it seems this year his production's been down. But Mario is truly a man among boys, i think he and Demarcus Ware are the 2 best ends in the league.
please it was a joke... go back and check the game thread, I wasn't a debbie downer in the least. In fact, I think I said we'd have plenty of time to execute a two-minute drill at the end of the game to win the game
Demeco has a bum ankle and is playing through the pain. Ware is technically an OLB but in the 3-4, that's almost the same as a DE. Mario is the best true DE in the game right now.
I hope he goes down with a better legacy than that! 'Cause honestly, that ain't sayin' much. Let's see... Mario, AJ, 'Meco, then... Who? Carr? Schaub? Rosenfumble? Anthony Weaver? Jason Babin? Jabrick Gaffney? In our short-storied history, it ain't hard to be among the "greatest Texans."
It feels good to be one of few who supported Mario Williams pick upon being drafted number 1. If he doesn't visit Hawaii at the end of the season than something is wrong with the pro bowl selection crew.
I was surprised to see Amobi getting pressure on the QB early yesterday. He never closed it with a sack, but I think he definitely hurried Fitzpatrick a few times.
The Lions radio announcer was gushing over Mario. Calling him current day Bruce Smith, the all time sacks leader. But bigger and with longer freakish arms, and better against the run. Actually over time alot of DEs were bigger than Bruce Smit, but you can see what the announcer was getting at...not bad compliments for a player who hasnt made a Pro Bowl
