Steve wants to get out of Houston?? I just got my May issue of SLAM and the last sentence on the eddie griffin article was: "He's (Eddie Griffin) impressive. The kid's only 19 years old and he'll probably end up playing longer than I will." I know Steve might just be saying this cause eddie is a lot younger than him, but you can't blame steve if he wants to leave. The rockets are doing horrible for the past couple of years, the arena sucks, no fans are ever at the games, and it's houston...the reason all of you love houston so much is because you grew up here, but people from other parts of the country don't think too much of the city...i mean, the knicks suck right now too, but if i was steve, i'd rather play there because nyc is a lot better than houston ( A LOT BETTER), everyone loves playing in MSG, and people actually show up to their games... Don't get me wrong, I want steve to stay, but you can't blame the guy if he wants to leave...
sLaNd B a L L a -- Steve is only talking about Griffin and his longevity in the game. It doesn't have anything to do with him wanting to leave Houston or not.
Maybe i'm not reading enough into that quote The quote was "He's (Eddie Griffin) impressive. The kid's only 19 years old and he'll probably end up playing longer than I will." I would be alot more worried if the quote was "He (Eddie Griffin) impressive. The kid's is only 19 years old and he'll probably end up playing here (Houston) longer than i will."
my bad...the quote was: "He's (Eddie Griffin) impressive. The kid's only 19 years old, and he'll probably end up playing here longer than I will."
I just got my May issue of SLAM and the last sentence on the eddie griffin article was: "He's (Eddie Griffin) impressive. The kid's only 19 years old and he'll probably end up playing longer than I will." I know someone has mentioned this before....but talk about reading between the lines... The rockets are doing horrible for the past couple of years Gee, thanks for pointing that out...Of course, Steve missing 20+ games this season and no Mo Taylor, no Rice, and Walt missing extended time MIGHT have something to do with that...and maybe you simply forgot about last season, but we did win 45 games, so us doing horrible "the past couple of years" is stretching it a bit... the arena sucks You don't pay much attention to the news, do you? I think we have the arena thing covered, unless Clutch created a board called "Rockets Saved! Downtown arena 2003" just for the hell of it no fans are ever at the games, and it's houston Plenty of teams are having attendance problems, not just the Rockets...Plus, the down season we're having is affecting attendance, but I can't think of many places besides Sacramento and New York that sell out every game even when their team is having a bad year. the reason all of you love houston so much is because you grew up here, but people from other parts of the country don't think too much of the city Well, I didn't grow up here, and not EVERYBODY grew up here, but thanks for the broad generalization...And you know people don't think much of Houston, HOW again? Do you ask people every day, "So, what do you think of Houston?" Maybe you've taken a poll of what people around the country think of Houston? Perhaps you should tell this to all the athletes that have offseason homes in Houston... i mean, the knicks suck right now too, but if i was steve, i'd rather play there because nyc is a lot better than houston ( A LOT BETTER), everyone loves playing in MSG, and people actually show up to their games... Maybe you can tell that to the Knicks GM, who is strapped with a lot of high dollar contracts (Houston, Anderson, Sprewell, Camby). I'm sure that once he figures out a way to circumvent the salary cap and avoid the luxury tax, he'd love to sign Steve. Not to mention that Houston can offer him a LOT more than NY can... Don't get me wrong, I want steve to stay, but you can't blame the guy if he wants to leave... We'll have to see about that now, won't we...
I got my SLAM too, B a l l a. Nice article on EG, btw. I got to agree with A-Train. All this paranoia about Steve leaving is really getting to me.
YOUR AN IDIOT IF YOUR NOT ONE OF THE FANS ATTENDING THEN SHUTUP OR HAVE YOU NOT HEARD OUR STATE OF THE ART ARENA BEING BUILT AGAIN IF YOU DID NOT ATTEND ONE GAME THIS YEAR AND BOBBLEHEAD DAY DOES NOT COUNT THEN SHUTUP YOUR NOT A FAN YOUR A PROBLEM . Sorry for the caps but fans like this make me wanna puke do not badmouth the team unless you know what the hell your talking about Steves not going anywhere and believe me I know! So go jump on the lakerwagon while it still has gas
***** shut yo ass up, i've been to over 10 rockets games this season...and none of them were bobblehead games...
Your all class....I bet your english professor enjoyed reading your term papers. 10's not bad try over 20 then talk to me.
Francis not a Rocket for life... I hope i am reading too much into this but it worries me. In the article in Slam magazine (not a good publication.....i read it at the airport for humor on my flight today) on Eddie Griffin (it was a big layout 3 or 4 pager) it ended with this final paragraph that has me thinking that Steve is going to jump ship and bail on Houston when his free agency comes up...... Michael
For the sake of not crapping my pants, I'll say you're reading too much into it. I really think that he just meant that Eddie can be a 20 year player if he wants, not that Steve is leaving next year. I really think (and hope) that Steve knows that Houston is the best place for a young budding superstar to be. You've got a young team with two potential all-stars including yourself (one of them one of your good friends), not to mention a coach who's known as a player's coach. I think he signs an extension.
Here, why don't we consolidate these two threads about the same thing? http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30873
