"Next thing I know you'll go off to college and start listening to Godspeed You! Black Emperor and The Shins and become a lesbian..."

    Haha.

Seriously though, Blaise Bailey Finnegan is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.

I'm not sure if they are still together or not (I doubt it) but Lillian Axe was a kickass hard rock/metal band from Dallas that just never really took off.

I also enjoy the hell out of Spock's Beard, although not so much now that Neal Morse has left the band.

Which album? If you first listened to their second album (Weekend in the City) you would have thought the band is complete garbage. But their first album (Silent Alarm) is a classic. By the way, they just released a third album this past month.

    Is it any good?

Silent Alarm was epic, but Weekend in the City was disappointing.

Frank Black is a good choice, I just always thought of him as someone who more people knew.

Mountain Goats would be my vote. Incredible catalog of great music and really amazing live.

Their new album (Intimacy) is somewhere in between the first and the second.
It has some solid tracks, but a few of the beginning tracks of the album are atrocious.

Can think of lot that don't get huge sales but yet they do get a lot of critical recognition. Like the Replacements for instance are almost universally recognized as one of the best rock bands of the 80s by people who really follow music, so I'm not sure if they fit.

The best I can think of right now is Destroyer and the runner up is Joseph Arthur. Both are liked by critics but I wouldn't call them "critic darlings."

Never heard of him and Amazon doesn't have any music from him. Can you recommend a place in town (particularly Katy) that has music of him? I'd prefer it in 45rpm format. Thanks.

Does anyone know of an 8-track player for sale? I need to move away from such bulky music media like these thick LPs.
