YOU MUST go to the vendor on 53rd and 6th. everyone knows chicken and rice. the line is usually a block long, but if you go when people aren't on their lunch break then its not a bad wait. ask for a mix. the portions are so big most people have enough for 2 meals and you can' beat the 6 dollar price.
oh ok. Did you see the website? They are planning on doing bfast. So I assume the back room needs a kitchen, extend the grease trap, ventilation, etc. What's troubling about the lunch menu is it doesn't mention corned beef and pastrami as sandwich meats, although the reubens are still on the menu. so, when did i miss Jeff's carnivore coming out thread?
Those are the famous Halal Guys. They even have a website and a wikipedia entry. On the wikipedia it says that food stand has had to hire bouncers to keep the crowds orderly. I would definitely recommend visiting their cart, especially at 3AM. Its uniquely NYC. I was eating at that stand just a few days ago around midnight.
Bumping for moar win. I'll be in NYC this weekend. I don't know if anyone can answer this - right now I'm considering on catching Z-Trip/Internet Hood/Juan Atkins on Sat. Do I need to get there early to get in? It doesn't look like tickets are available ahead of time anymore. Might check out Brazilian Girls on Friday, same question. Or can I get there an hour late, still get in, and wait another hour for the show to start like many other places. Also if anyone knows where to look for a deep house night, let me know. TIA!
You can still buy your tickets for that Santos Party House show (Z-Trip/Hood Internet, etc..) on Ticketweb. http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=303753 The only time I've seen Santos Party House sell out was at the Black Kids concert a few months back. But on Saturday night a bunch of Pace and NYU students just show up at events since they have nothing to do. So buy your ticket in advance. I saw the Hood Internet a few months ago for free at a sponsored event at a bar. I really liked all their releases, but watching them perform is basically watching two guys press buttons on their Apple laptop the whole time. Kind of a disappointment. I don't know if you are into indie rock or not, but there is this really, really good The National/ Grizzly Bear show on 10/10. For some strange reason it hasn't sold out as yet. I think b/c they haven't promoted it much on the blogs. Anyways here is the link: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2008/08/the_national_gr.html https://secure2.ersvp.com/register/...ntid=6762&cacheid=1223362834.5320&ersvp=mySID Brazilian Girls at Terminal 5 won't sell out, I'm pretty sure. The venue is 3000+ and is one the largest venues in all of NYC. I was there last week twice for a Hot Chip and then a Mogwai show, and neither one was sold out. You can save money, by buying those tickets directly at the box office. The box office is located at Mercury Lounge. You don't have to pay any of those Ticketmaster fees or handling fees, so its a good deal. You can also buy your tickets at Terminal 5 itself, but usually there is a line on the day of the show.
Thanks for the advice, Mr. Brightside. Looks like we have other plans Fri night so I won't be seeing either show. Still considering Sat night though.
What is the deal with thread-bumping lately? It's cool to just start a new thread. Jeff kinda, sorta isn't in the city anymore. Thus the thread is irrelevant for bumping. Regards, -The Thread Bumping Council
Did you read the previous 3-4 posts? The thread title? I didn't want to start a new thread just for that. Not to mention the thread was only a little more than a week old...and ironically you are in turn bumping said thread. Mind your own business, -The Council For Forum Cleanliness
