In all seriousness it's almost Halloween right? Maybe, he's just getting into the holiday spirit early. Perhaps, you're looking into this too much. What a pathetic attempt to get at a girl if custodian boy was trying to lure you with candy. Who does he think you are? A 12 year old girl? Surely, not. Right?

Eh it didn't sound like her fiancee was threatened...more like kidding.

Course my girl could have lunch with a coworker or something and it wouldn't bother me cause I trust her. I realize I am different from the norm on that. But I wouldn't think that a bag of candy would be a big deal under any circumstances.

man, you guys are are uptight. i love it when guys buy my g/f stuff...especially food. she won't eat it all and brings me the goodies.

hell, it's fun and funny meeting her at a bar after someone's bought her a drink. i'll show up and have a freebie, since she doesn't even drink.

Some level of jealousy is a good thing.

It implies a genuine care and defense of a loved one.

    Then there is obsession.

This sounds like a mild indication that the "candy" incident makes him upset.

    That's jealousy.

I'd be the same way about my woman... and I have. 13 years so far...

I'd come over and **** this maintenance guy up. Unless he pays some bills, then it is awesome.

Cue  SwoLy-D my ass, you fool... you've posted 4 times BEFORE I DID... finalsbound, take note of that... :D

    1. You know that guy is married.
    2. You smile at him and make "casual conversation" with him.
    3. He knows you're married.

You're doing wrong by accepting favors from dudes at work or anywhere else. If there were other people involved, let them know you mean NOTHING by this. Give that candy back to him. If you plan on keeping it or already ate it, he's expecting something in return. It is OK to talk to him when there are other people present, or when all of you accept candy from him, but when he only gives YOU the candy... he only wants YOU... to have the candy... not everyone else. Doesn't he know you're MARRIED? [State of Texas Law says you ARE. Your man is right.]

In the HISPANIC/MEXICAN/LATINO/MACHO world, that dude's going to get his ass whipped beause you're accepting his "candy." This is my point zero two dollars.

    Respectfully disagree....

Genuine care and defense of a loved one implies genuine care and defense of a loved one. :)

Jealousy implies insecurity and oftentimes unhealthy behavior.

I have never bought candy or something of the like for a woman unless there was some interest on my part, or unless I worked with her on an assignment at work, it was a way to say "Thank you." But in those cases, candy was not my gift of choice. It would be something more "professional." I've done the same thing for male coworkers (take them out for a beer or buy them tickets to a hockey or football game...whatever).

Anyway....I don't think there was anything overly wrong with accepting it and saying thank you this once. But if it happens again, I would politely decline.

If my gf got candy from a guy at work, i'd be okay with it, as long as it was a 1 time thing. I would see her side of accepting it to be nice. Nothing wrong with that.

However, if its a reoccurring thing, then it tells me that the guy has other intentions. I would expect my gf, at that point, to mention something that would pretty much put an end to that. If my gf didnt say something and continually took candy and chit chatted with him, then that would piss me off a little.

"I knew this guy wasn't white without seeing his photo..."

I obviously don't, but this part of your story just jogged my memory.
