Throughout Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, the Republican nominee has wrapped himself in the mantle of U.S. Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, proclaiming himself the leading advocate of the former commanding general in Iraq who devised last year’s controversial troop surge. Yet during a talk Wednesday about Iraq at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington policy organization, Petraeus repeatedly made statements that bolstered the foreign-policy proposals of Sen. Barack Obama, McCain’s Democratic rival, or cut against McCain’s own lines. http://washingtonindependent.com/11381/petraeus very interesting article
I've always thought it was bit unseemly to have a Presidential candidate appeal to a General the way McCain does with Petraeus.
This is an outrageously false title. It's so obvious whose policies Petraeus prefers -- McCain's. Heck, Snobama refused to meet with Petraeus until public pressure mounted to the point where he could no longer thumb his nose at him. Snobama railed against Petraeus during the debate over the surge. Snobama is financed by Moveon.org, which called him General Betray-us. Sure Petraeus might back a few aspects of Obama's handlers' policies, but if you look at the big picture, I'm sure Petraeus thinks Obama is an incompetent buffoon on foreign policy issues. Most informed foreign policy experts would agree.
McCain's judgments on Iraq has been terrible from the beginning. So, when it comes to Iraq, he only has the surge and General Petraeus to talk about. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xG1aOORf8Pc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xG1aOORf8Pc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Even these two don't go well with educated voters because... 1) Surge came about after failed policies and blunders to begin with. 2) Patraeus bolsters Obama's views. McCain's foreign policy experience has a history of bad judgments on his part.
Jorge really You need to accept the reality that Barack Obama is going to be your next president. He has the most dynamic advisors around today. He actually listens to them and doesn't fire them if he disagrees. It’s also another indication of how Obama will work with people he doesn’t always agree with. The article mentions one area where Obama and Petraeus’ agree; and that is the policy of talking to our enemies. That is a fundamental difference with McCain.
False Obama had met with the general before his recent trip to Iraq. He met him back in 2007. That was long before there was any pressure on him to do anything of the sort. Please get your facts straight to avoid posting false garbage like this.
Are you talking about when Snobama lobbed a bunch of insults to Petraeus as a part of his political grandstanding? You've sunk to a new low, trying to disguise that as a 'meeting'. Pathetic. That was a disgrace. Obama truly proved his poor judgment in that 'meeting'.
