I was unable to watch the game. I see 18 points. Please provide a summary of how he looked. Thanks.

His midrange shooting looks much improved.

He kicked ass. His jumper is smooth, and overall game is more polished. He obviously worked harder than any other Rocket this offseason.

I remember one pretty good dunk, off a nice drive and dish from Brooks. As we know from last year, he has a good touch around the basket scoring in traffic. He had a turn and shoot jumper from the mid-post in one play. I think he had a number of catch and shoot jumpers from 18-20 feet.

I don't recall much on the defensive end ... he had a tough time blocking out Hadadi for the defensive boards, but that's to be expected when he's guarding a 7'2 guy. He did block his turn around jumper once, which was pretty impressive. The elevation is definitely there.

he looked like the carl landry of last year. had a nice dunk in the first half, was grabbing boards, and made 3 outside jumpers. you can tell he worked a lot on his midrange shot in the summer.

    cabbman,

thanks 4 posting what I was thinking. stuck in san antone and working...had no way to catch the game.

from what I read in the game thread, it seemed he brought the full game tonight: postups, dunks, boards, midrange j's, etc. I would like some more specifics, though.

for wxample, was he getting his because of being the focal point or just from the natural flow of the offense? were they crucial points...momentum points...or were they a-rod homers?

I'll also say ... if Landry can stay healthy this year, there's going to be A LOT of fans calling for him to move into the starting lineup. He finishes stronger around the basket, and he has a much smoother jumper than Scola. Those attributes may be more valuable in the starting lineup.

His mid-range jumpers definately improved from good to better. I think he made all of his mid-range jumpers today. His hops are also back!

Everyone did well today, did not see much action from Joey Dorsey though. I know it's pre-season, but i still can't get over that ugly pass by Aaron Brooks during the fast break with Brent Barry lol. Yes i know, it's pre season, i'll try to let it go.

Honestly I was at the game and asked myself how does Scola have a guaranteed starting spot not saying Scola shouldn't start but he looked good enough to keep a open mind.

Skimming through the game thread is what peaked my curiosity, most especially the posts claiming he showed a post-up game.

    So my main question is:

To those that watched the game, when you say he has improved, do you mean the athleticism is back and he is back to doing what he did prior to the injury, or do you mean he has added to his game? I am mainly curious to know if he has added a post game. That would be huge.

I thought Dorsey was supposed to come in and contribute right away. I understand that it was one game, and I missed Dorsey's stint. I didn't even know he played until I checked the boxscore and saw his 5 minutes, 1 turnover, and 2 rebounds.

lol at posters who said we didn't need Landry, because we have Dorsey. I'm talking to you joesr.

After experiencing the knee injury Landry went through first hand, I hope he doesn't play for the rest of the preseason or at least paces himself.

He and Aaron Brooks are the biggest keys to this season.

i think in a some ways which i never really thought about it before. but IF landry were good enough and he did end up starting. it may be better overally. meaning if he can take those passes from tmac and dunk and can get putbacks it may be for the best.

scola could be brought off the bench and with yao and tmac sitting you can have scola doing his ISO thing he does well and get points that way. meaning scola in my opinion MAY need the ball in his hands to be his most effective and would get more chances off the bench.

does any of this sound right or make any sense???

Landry was very active at both ends. 9 RB, 4 offensive, 1 block and 7/12 from the floor. His shots were his usual explosive dunks and a seemingly improved 15-18 foot jump shot (its only one game) and he is a good FT shooter. Guy plays like this and Adelman has to think about starting him instead of Scola.

he only had one dunk and it wasn't as explosive as he used to throw it down prior to his injury. it seems like landry's athleticism isn't fully back yet. id say he's about 90%. however his jumpshot tremendously improved. didn't see much of a post game.

Landry looked very good, greatly improved jumpshot, still has hops and goes to finish strong, fighting for rebounds and loose balls. He got blocked a couple of times but for his height that's almost to be expected. His new jumpshot was impressive with a confident and smooth release.

No addition of a post game in his reportoire. Don't look for him to be a scorer in the post, he's too short and would have his shots blocked far too often. He is better suited to working on his mid-range game.

He's still Carl Landry. Big on the boards, and his jumper is silky smooth now.
