Is this worse than the S&L crisis of the 80s? Iceland's whole financial system is down the tubes.

The best part is they're going to be saved by getting a payday loan from Russia. Better send goveror Palin over to greenland to keep one of her signature winking eyes on 'em.

I'm met some Icelandic women and I would gladly pump some life into their economy.

I've heard that Sigur Ros is so distraught over this, they have started talking in gibberish that no one understands. I'm really concerned.

Kaupthing's loans leaked. Massive, massive, massive naughtiness caught. Rampant, desperate attempts at censorship in full display.

    Link

    300-500 billion krona. Holy moly.

Naturally, before any of us get all uppity about the fraud in Iceland and the attempts to hide it, note that TARP payout listings are still not available to the public.

To be fair, to rhad's point, we don't actually know what our banks did specifically with that money. So technically, they could have loaned it all out to their friends like in Iceland. :)

Crap. It's been a while since we claimed victory for our financial system.
