We need either a post-up guy, a spot-up shooter (with Walt leaving and Glen's age + injury), or a guy who can score easy buckets.

Odom does not fit any of these roles. What he gives us is another guy who is only effective with the ball in his hands. We already have 3 guys who love to dribble in Francis, Mooch, and Mobley. We will never be able to get a shot off in 24 seconds if we add another guy who must have the ball to be effective.

With that being said, we need a guy who can move well away from the ball or a spot-up shooter. Marion is the type of guy who would boost our defense and rebounding, as well as giving us a SF who can run and get some easy dunks/layups. Odom is nowhere near the defender/rebounder/transition player that Marion is. Marion is one of the best finishing SFs after T-Mac and Vince.

Rashard gives us a 3 pt shooter who can spot up. He is light years ahead in this department over Odom.

Do you guys rememeber how well Pippen fared in our offense? Well, Odom is a very poor man's Pippen, and is not suited to be a spot-up shooter, something that Rudy's offense requires at the SF spot.

Marion does not really fit the qualification as a spot-up shooter, however he does provide the aforementioned rebounds, defense, and easy buckets.

I doubt it. Plus, we would have to give them like 10 mill or so in contracts to bring in Hill.

I think Orl would rather keep Hill and try to win now, than "rebuild" with the #1 the Rockets would give them.

I think you're talking about Miller. Hill was never up for trade. Sacramento tried to get Hill included in a sign & trade for Webber, but was rejected. If Hill was available, that would've been the time to do it. I bet, in hindsight, Orlando wishes they had done that now.

Hill has been mentioned in deals before, especially after he got hurt again this year. But Orlando's GM has said that they will just take their chances and wait him out.

Now, someone mentioned KT for Mike Miller. Can Miller be a servicable 3 for us? Would we be able to get him for KT or would he cost more than that?

I would really like to see us pick up Miller for the 3 at that price and then use the draft (and maybe a trade to move up if needed) to fill the center void. Ming is my dream there, but I think he is ultimately gonna go #1. He is 7'5" and can shoot with range. And this is the NBA. There is little chance of him not going #1.

Look at where Shawn Bradley went when everyone knew he was scrawny and couldn't shoot other than to dunk. The potential upside for those 7'5" guys if they somehow can play is just too great to pass up.

Since we are talking about the best possible 3's for our system that are a possibility......why aren't we talking about Kwame B. I mean we know that Lewis is the hometown boy and there has to be interest from the rocks, we also know that odom's availability was asked about during the trade deadline, and we also know (when clutch says it, it is not a rumor) that the rocks are also interested in Kwame.......how about throwing him in to this discussion. Now I know that he may not be projected at the 3, probably more of a 4 or even 5 but the kid is very quick and has a sweet jumper and could play some 3, 4, or 5

You must be kidding with Dunleavy....not only is he staying in school, but he is Dan Langhi is a Duke uniform right now...

Marion would be my choice but all of the reports up here say that his first free agent visit may be New Jersey so he can get back together with Kidd (if Kidd stays)

I like Marion ,Lewis , and Odom, but considering the way Rudy plays, if a player can get his own shot starting from about 23ft, he will be in trouble. Thats why I think Marion and Lewis are behind Odom.Odom can get his own shot from anywhere on the court as opposed to Lewis who spots up alot and Marion plays 18ft and in. Anyone of the 3 are superior to anyone we have on our roster.

    I would vote for Odom.

He's the most skilled of all those mentioned, and he's a proven NBA player(which eliminates Dunleavy and Woods). If he can stay out of trouble (he's supposedly close with Cat), he definitely has superstar, All-Star potential.

I say go with Lewis. His rebounding and shooting could help this team and he's still getting better.

Plus I wouldn't mind a native Houstonian on the team. ;)

I'd vote for Marion. He seems to be the best defender of the bunch in combination with a wide variety of other skills - good medium range jumpshooter, good post-up player, good rebounder, good on the break. Marion would be perfect. If we couldn't get the player we absolutely wanted in the draft (possibly a Ming or Woods), I'd defnitely trade our pick for MArion if the Suns are looking to "rebuild." When is he a free agent?

rocketriver- odom's like 22-23, he is nowhere near ready to be judged on his career. he has atleast 10 more years before a coleman comparison can be busted on him.
