I admit his record isn't the best, but the teams that Mcgrady had to play with in Orlando was ridiculous. There is no excuse for his Rockets playoffs there are none. But if you take out the Orlando numbers it isn't so bad. His really in the same boat as his mate Yao.
Pistons head and shoulders above the Jazz? The Jazz at any time have the 2 best players between the 2 teams in Williams/Boozer, AK=Prince (who is one of the ultimate playoff chokers), and the Jazz have a much better coach, chemistry and overall offensive team. The Cavs are extremely one-dimensional...absolutely no offense to speak of. LeBron is incredible, but after he and Mo Williams who is their go-to player? Boobie Gibson? Wally World? The Spurs disposed with the Cavs easily in the 2007 Finals in what was a sweep...that same Spurs team was taken to 6 games by a Jazz team that has only gotten better since then. Magic being better than the Jazz is laughable.
Wait, I thought Tracy can't get out of the first round because he doesn't have anyone to pass to? So... rolling over in the first round seven times isn't a choke job, but making the conference finals seven times and winning a ring is?
Yes, Yao is turnover prone, but I dont know how questionable his passing is. He only has trouble guarding centers who have long range shooting ability. Stretching the defense isnt his job. Stretching the defense is the job of the 3 pt shooters on the Rockets. Yes, he's missed a lot of games. But this year, we are a lot deeper and hopefully, he will play fewer minutes which should lead to fewer injuries. This stat would be relevant if the team were built around Yao.
Not as laughable as the Jazz being better than the Pistons. Come on man, the Lakers handily defeated the Jazz before going on to get rolled by the Celtics. Stop trying to build them up as some sort of superpower.
On top of that the Pistons would have won another title if only this ROCKET LEGEND AND NBA SUPERHERO didn't stop them
wekko, you have to take into account T0F logic: 7 first round exits: not choking 6 straight conference finals: SHAMEFUL
At this point of there careers Lebron hands down. Hell I'll take Lebron over Kobe just becasue hes 6 years younger, but as of right now I still think Kobe is the better player.
His actual passing ability is fine, but too often he becomes a black hole offensively...the ball goes in and simply won't come back out. It is why he is always around 1.5APG while guys like Duncan, KG and a prime Shaq are/were around 3-4APG. With the NBA getting more and more athletic and the traditional big man becoming a thing of the past, this could be a major problem (as it was in 2007). When you are trying to run an offense that is very much reliant on the big man going outside to open up slashing lanes for guys like T-Mac and Artest, it is indeed a problem. It is also a problem against a guy like Okur, who has a strong foundation and causes Yao to struggle in the post. Hopefully...but it is still a problem. This stat would be relevant if the team were built around Yao.[/QUOTE] With everyone and their mother saying this is "Yao's team", it is extremely relevant. The fact that he has never proven himself as a #1 option is why I still get mad that people hate on T-Mac for his shortcomings, want Yao to be the leader, some want to trade T-Mac, yet overlook what is a very important stat...Yao leading the Rockets to a 15-36 record without T-Mac, while T-Mac leading the Rockets to a 44-28 record without Yao.
AntiSonic, you forget Greatest Playoff Performance of All Time: Jordan vs Blazers? No Dream vs Robinson? No Tmac in Orlando? Yes!
That is relevant...how? I said LeBron is incredible, but he has absolutely no help around him. The Cavs are not a better team than the Jazz as a result, which was my point. LeBron, at this point, is a MUCH better player than T-Mac.
You say you don't like when people talk about Tracy in Orland but you do know that you bring up Tracy in Orlando more than anyone.
I'm optimistic about this season and that Tmac AND Yao both really need Ron Artest to relieve the pressure off them. The days of Tmac carrying the load should be over.
The Jazz don't really have a guy that can take over the game like Lebron, they rely on execution. We can cry all we want about the Jazz, but in both years they got disposed quite easily by the WC Champs. The loses by the Rockets in both years were choke jobs, 2007 more than 2008.
and that's a good thing. tmac has asked for that the moment he came here. that's why he wanted to sign with us rather than stay in orlando. he wanted more help. the days of one guy carrying a team is over. the celts have 3 18+ pt scorers. the lakers have a phlethora of 1-on-1 scorers, led by kobe. the suns, mavs, jazz... all have multiple scorers.
Disagree. In 2008 playoffs, while I was watching the Rockets/Jazz series, I got the impression that they were just toying with us. 2007 was a choke job though.
