Ok, so there are a LOT of threads based on God and God related issues.

I def. believe in God. I love Jesus and the way he led his life.

Generally though, I cannot stand churches.

I believe God gave us everything we need to know to do the right thing. He doesn't need agents, prophets, or even children to tell us what we need to do.

I have a poor opinion of organized religion and have a worse opinion of people who preach like they know God's intent better than the rest of us. I think most are power hungry, greedy, con men and some are even worse. Preacher or minister would rank right up there with Utah Jazz fan as people I would least want my daughter to marry.

I don't feel high, but thanks, I think...

You will do whatever you want to do, don't you think?

I don't blame my choices on anyone but me.

My problem is that you are condescending and that your tome is meant to belittle those who believe. You can try to say that it is not your intention, but anybody with more than 3 brain cells to bang together will see through that.

I am glad that your lack of belief makes you feel far superior than those of us who do. Good for you. Feel free to avoid unnecessary bravado about it in the future.

Spiritual means you believe in something beyond us. Religion implies you actually believe that you have an understanding of what is beyond us and have answers.

to me, being religious is following a specific belief system. just following a path that's been defined for you. being spiritual is free of those influences yet still believe in something that's transcendental and find your own path.

Now you're just being completely ridiculous. I do not have the intentions you are implying. I don't feel nearly as superior as I probably would if I was as high on Jesus as you seem to be. You must be an considered an upstanding member of your cult....

Nope, and I am sorry it sounds confusing.

We should discuss it. Not to change your mind.

You have a logical view of it all but I would like to share a different perspective. Maybe next time I am in Austin?

I don't argue or debate that is a waste of time, and we don't have to discuss anything but Rockets BB, but I would really enjoy meeting.

Its one thing to believe in a higher being or cause. I find it hard to fathom how anyone can read through history, and still be so committed to organized religion. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

I beleive in a higher [Read more knowledgable] being that helped in the creation of the world/universe. It just more logical than simply saying everything is just dumb luck

People believe in religion because people in general have a need for something constant in their lives. If your world gets turned upside down you can also lean towards something that is always there and constant. That is what religion is for. I don't care for people who say that they only act one way or another because it helps them get into heaven. I feel that is a very selfish way of thinking.

I personally do not have a need for religion. I am comfortable with death, I do not live in fear of it. I do not need to tell myself there is something better after I die to make me feel comfortable with it.

I understand why people believe in it, but I personally do not think it matters whether god exists or not. In that way I am agnostic.

Although I believe in a god, I find its more logical to think its just dumb luck. Considering there are billions upon billions of stars and even more planets, one of them had a pretty good chance of producing life after billions of years.

My belief in god defies any logic. I just feel it and that's good enough for me.

Well here is my 2 cents on this.

He appeared to many people after his death and resurrection. Many people testified that they saw him after his rise from the dead.

His disciples who claimed to have seen him risen were beaten, led horrible lives under constant persectution, and were even killed. They would have no reason to make up a story and every reason to say that the whole thing was just a big joke. But they kept to their story until their deaths.

Normal people don't die for something they know to be a lie.

For me its becasue I grew up believing in it and doubted it for one second. I believe Jesus is coming back one day just don't know when.

These threads are dumb. They happen at least once a week. Fact is you're not going to convert someone with your view point, so why even bother. If whatever you believe in, and this goes for anything, if it makes you happy and doesn't interrupt other people's happiness then go with it.
