http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/05/palin-misquotes-albright_n_131967.html "There's a place in Hell reserved for women who don't support other women." The McCain/Palin campaign is going off the deep end.
Carson, CA? Um, what the heck are they doing campaigning in California? If they conceded Michigan as a waste of time / out of reach, isn't spending a minute in California fantasyland? There's only a month to go. Carson isn't exactly a conduit to national media attention, either, I should think.
I suspect it's a combo... trolling for dollars and Palin building her "national" base among righties.
Yeah, as rim said, it is for money. They netted a couple mil on their Cali trip. I love that she now calls Barack an "embarrassment." Can't wait to see how this sort of hyperbolic negativity, with no offered solutions, works for them. I hope Americans finally spank this sort of nonsense.
Well, right now it's 329 - 124. I believe that the McCain campaign's backroom meetings go a little something like this: John McCain: Y'ignorant slope-shouldered sack a guts! Why we'd look like a buncha satchel-ass Johnnie-Come-Latelies braggin' on our own midget! Don't matter how stumpy! And that's the ******* problem right there - people think this Obama's got fresh ideas, he's oh coorant and we the past. McCain Staffer 1: Problem a p'seption. McCain Staffer 2: Ass right. McCain Staffer 1: The reason he's pullin' our pants down. McCain Staffer 2: Gonna paddle a little behind. McCain Staffer 1: Ain't gonna paddle it - gonna kick it, real hard. McCain Staffer 1: No, I believe he's gonna paddle it. McCain Staffer 2: I don't believe that's a proper characterization. McCain Staffer 1: Well, that's how I'd characterize it. McCain Staffer 2: I believe it's more of a kickin' sitcheyation.
Really? This must be a 'formal' tactic of the Repubs. Determine what is their own perceived weaknesses and then accuse the Dems of exactly that. I'm surprised they haven't accused the Dems of having a vagina.
wow......and thats potentially our next president. what an educated comment. that's just like obama saying: "if you dont vote for me, then you're a racist"
I don't care to speculate on one-liners from either of the 4 candidates. But it furthers the point that Palin will say more outrageous, far reaching statements to partisan crowds compared to the other 3 candidates. Her confidently sarcastic, smug delivery in the confines of republican supporters is caustic. And then she does a 180 w/ the 'big, bad, evil mainstream media' and acts like a picked-on puppy.
Except she wasn't. She thought she was quoting a Starbucks cup, but she quoted it incorrectly and turned it into her own statement.
So long as she doesn't quote Albright on No Fly Zones or sanctions, I don't care much. Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it? Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it. The woman should be tried for war crimes.
Which makes it even worse. As a woman, this is just despicable. Of course I support other women, just not her. But I guess that means I'm going to Hell. At least I have a reserved spot.
Yes - she changed the "help" to "support". She turned a non-political statement into a political reason to vote for her. Albright blasted her for it yesterday.
no, it was in the context of her introduction and endorsement by the head of the L.A. chapter of NOW, a fairly unusual act. the video's here, so you can judge for yourself, but it's pretty obvious she called your reaction at the end: <object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/S03ZfFf_gGQ&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/S03ZfFf_gGQ&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="349"></embed></object>
That's the worst part of it - she KNEW it was a stupid thing to say, and yet she said it anyway. Here's Albright: "Though I am flattered that Governor Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics. This is yet another example of McCain and Palin distorting the truth, and all the more reason to remember that this campaign is not about gender, it is about which candidate has an agenda that will improve the lives of all Americans, including women. The truth is, if you care about the status of women in our society and in our troubled economy, the best choice by far is Obama-Biden."
