Where do you do it in Houston????

I'm not thrilled with throwing them in a landfill. I'd love to donate 2 twin mattresses...but every charity I can think of doesn't take them.

Have you tried the Salvation Army or Goodwill max? I know obvious charities, but just asking. We donated some stuff to one of them a while back and I swear one of them took an older mattress of ours.

doesn't matter, I'd never subject myself or my family to sleep on used mattresses from someone i don't even know.

I'm not trying to bash, just giving my opinion.

Lol then you certainly have a different view than the rest of us. These people are dirt poor that come to these charities and shelters, I really really doubt the first words out of their mouth are "I won't take any mattresses less than 1 week old".

Why don't you just put them up for free on Craigslist? I've run ads to give away stuff, and it always gets to people who need it.

they're not for you. they're for people who might not have a mattress or anything else to sleep on whatsoever. i'm happy and so proud for you that you and your family have clean mattresses.

ugh, nvm. I've tried to donate matresses myself and no charities i knew of would accept them. so i left it in front my house and long behold....someone took it.

My suggestion: give it to someone you personally know who may be interested, or post it up as a freebie (since your donating anyway) in classified section or on craigslist

As a second option, try local shelters. You may have to deliver it to them versus them coming and picking it up though. Some churches also have affiliations with charities or organizations that will take them.

If nothing else, prop em up outside in your front yard, and put a "FREE" sign on them, and they'll be gone by the time you get home from work. :)

Another idea: What about children's homes or homeless shelters? I would think that they'd have a use for them.

Lock it up...Salvation Army of Houston takes them for their shelters.

Finally was able to speak with someone who could answer the question.

Put it out on big trash day.

If those guys think it is worth something, they will find a home for it.
