Hooray! The Pacers didn't have to buy him out. I don't know what possessed the Nuggets to make this move. It was good the Pacers were patient. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10032008/sports/moresports/tinsley_dealt_to_nuggets_131908.htm TINSLEY DEALT TO NUGGETS By PETER VECSEY Posted: 3:17 am October 3, 2008 Locked-out Pacers point Jamaal Tinsley was traded to the Nuggets for Chuckie Atkins and Stephen Hunter, The Post has learned. The deal is contingent on Tinsley passing a physical. Chronically injured over the last four years (only once playing more than 42 games) and embroiled in violent encounters on three separate occasions (none of which he instigated), he spent all summer in Atlanta rehabbing his body and is said to be a great condition. Denver assumes his $21M, 3-year debt. Atkins is due $3.24M and $3.48M while Hunter is guaranteed $3.86M and $3.69M. Less than half of their total salary remaining is guaranteed.
Wow, Carmelo, AI, and now Tinsley. The Nuggets really are trying to alienate their fan base, aren't they?
Well at least the Nuggets have a PG for at least 40 games. Maybe Tinsley turns it around this year. I thought Tinsley couldn't shoot worth a damn. Worse than Rafer.
I'm holding out hope that this is a Vescey deal and therefore not based in reality at all. Dear God let it be a Vescey deal.
So they traded Camby's two year deal to save money, but they took on Tinsley's three year deal? What are they thinking?
http://blogs.indystar.com/pacersinsider/archives/2008/10/no_tinsley_deal.html Indy Star reporting no deal as of right now.
Just when you thought the Nuggets were getting back on track...they make another bonehead move. Maybe they should go after Zach Randolph too.
I seriously don't understand how Peter Vecsey still has a job? The fact that when he reports something, and people AUTOMATICALLY assume it's not true should count for something right? I mean, if I were to just straight up make up some garbage based on something the janitor told me, I would get fired in a heartbeat, and I'm assuming 99% of people out there are in the same boat, so why does this guy continue to be allowed to right stuff like this? The way the article is written, he's making it sound like it's a done deal, when in reality, I bet Indiana called Denver and proposed to the trade, the Nuggets laughed in their face, and hung up.
My sympathy, bro. It's tough to have your team be almost to the point of serious contention, then make 3 or 4 moves in the wrong direction.
When I saw the source it made me wonder, but I posted it anyway. Oh well, it was a nice thought (from a Pacer viewpoint). Mods, may as well lock it up.
