I have some coworkers who hasn't registered yet, so this could be helpful before this week's deadline. The Texas site...https://webservices.sos.state.tx.us/vrapp/index.asp creates a printable form to sign and mail, but are there any click and send sites (preferably with a .gov domain) to do this? I've done some googling, but the credibility of some sites seem suspect and there's no guarantee of protecting personal information. Also, is there any fixed registration booths around Austin?
I do not believe you can register online. It has to be mailed. As long as it's postmarked by Oct 6th, I think they will be ok. I could be wrong about the date, though...
Another question is that one is hesitant to register because of an outstanding traffic warrant. He's asking if the cops would know....
Want to add: They don't even crosscheck for dead people except when the secretary of state gets the notion.
What about if a person is hesitant about voting cause he thinks his chances of being selected for jury duty are higher?
You have to print it and mail it. Unless it's a name or address change, you can do that on-line. I just updated my voter registration at hcvoter.com
www.voteforchange.com Go there and it takes your basic info and fills out the right form for you, then you just print out the form and mail it or drop it off. Its so easy. And despite the name you can use it even if you aren't voting for Obama
...or what if someone is hesitant to vote because his vote is virtually worthless in his state. JOKING. Everyone should vote.
It's only "virtually worthless" for the one race on the top of the ballot. And most of the others affect your own life more. Go vote.
They stopped doing that a while ago in nearly every state that did it. I believe they started going by driver license information.
Thanks for clearing that up Wes. I vaguely remember rumors that California tied voting with warrants...or was it license renewal with voting... Wasn't sure about Texas. Dude...Texas is a pink state now according to polls. Ya never know. https://www.msu.edu/~sheppa28/elections.html
