What do you want? To hear some predictable canned answers, or to get a glimpse of the real state of a player?

    I take the latter everyday.

Don't torch a guy for telling the truth. The truth is almost never what you want to hear, but it's what's always best.

Why give the false appearance that your healthy? Where in that comment did he say, "I don't know guys, don't be surprised if I fail cause I'm hurt." He didn't say that, he made it clear he's still in the recuperating process. I have no beef with that.

Think of it this way. What if Yao goes down 6 weeks into the season with the foot problem and it turns out he was no where near ready to return despite his and other coaches claims? How are you going to feel about his comments then? Of course let's hope that day never comes.

I thoroughly disagree with anyone who say lying is the right answer. Be honest, let us know so we can know what to expect.

    Funny.

This is somewhat off topic, but are 80% of the people who post on Youtube mentally r****ded?

Haha...listen. There is a difference between being a "hater" and being "dissapointed". I am the latter. T-Mac is my favorite player on this team, I am dissapointed in the way he chose to address the media, team and fanbase about his condition. An athlete at his level of expectation should know better. If you seriously can't comprehend where I'm coming from than I don't know what else to tell you. I'm not being irrational, I'm not being a hater. I'm just stating on what I expect from the cornerstone of the franchise I've religiously followed since I was a kid. Do you think that T-Mac could've worded this better, yes or no?

    Thought so.

What spacemoth wrote above was something along the lines of what he should've said. Not what we got. I'll agree to disagree though.

I didn't say you were hating. But, yeah, pretty much that all amounts to wanting him to be less blunt about his health problems so its not as much of a buzz kill for the fans.

People whining about what T-Mac should say. It's that time of the year and... I love it.

I have to agree. I've never liked the Lakers, but I do admire Kobe's iron will compared to T-Mac's. Injuries are part of the game. The way players respond to them is part of what makes them who they are. If you can play then just freakin play and don't announce everything. We all like honesty, I guess. But do you guys really believe that NBA plays do or should announce all the truth all the time? Just because it's true doesn't mean you have to announce it.

I really don't see the problem

T-mac is saying his hurt, which is the truth.

So what is he expected to say? I don't get it. You want him to sugarcoat it on a plate and give it to you?

Or not say it at all?

I just don't see the point of not saying it at all. IF he didn't say it and he shows visible signs of pain people will still slag him for being soft. Whats the difference honestly

No Tracy. It is actually my fault, not yours.

He didn't "announce" anything... he answered a question from a member of the media. Kobe said the samn damn things last year, acknowledging that his pinkey injury would linger but that he would play through it. T-Mac said the EXACT same things about his shoulder.

I love honesty. Screw this guy who wants to be lied to. He has no place in serious journalism.

Finally someone says it I totally agree and I'm happy someone wrote something on it I'm tired of tmac always making excuses about this and that, this is the year we're suppose to go all the way and it won't happen without him so I hope tmac sucks it up and plays without complaining

For the love of god shut up. He answered the question truthfully. He's not 100%, quit crying about it. He's not. He's going to bust his ass every night on and off the court. He's just honest when asked a question. If your feeble child mind can't take the truth, then curl in your bed playing tapes from 94'.

Meanwhile I'm going to watch T-Mac lead this team, injured or not, to the playoffs. Thank you for you honesty T-Mac.

I agree with you 100%. I don't see how yall can complain that he wasn't a good leader by admitting he is hurt. He is being a realist. Saying that doesn't demoralize his team. Do you really think Tmac is gonna lie in his own locker room to his teammates thats he is fine and ok? Of course not. I for one want to say THANK YOU to Tmac for being one of the few athletes that cut the bull **** and is truthful about the situation. Mcgrad isnt a p***y,hes a realist... (ok maybe both :D )

It's not about wheather he speak the truth or not, it's about being tough. And about sending a message to the team that he's ready no matter what nagging injury he had had. But he didn't say that...he sound like he's begging for sympathy. It's about being mentally tough...oh wait, TMAC was never about mentally tough! My bad....they should have trade his ass when i suggested swapping him with Kobe during the Lakers' fiasco early last year but Morey didn't listen and is too faithful to Tmac.

First day training camp with a lot of hope and then you hear him talk about his injuries and it's just down right discouraging. That's why player like Steve Francis has more heart and soul than Tmac. Same go with Battier.

And i bet you now that we have Ron Artest on our team...Tmac is looking to relax more instead of playing up his potential. Judging by his interview comment, i can tell that just the way he is...not a mentally tough player.
