Like it or not, OP is correct. However, he actually played better in 06-07 than in 07-08. In 06-07 he shot 43%, 33% from 3, and 71% from the free throw line, while averaging 24 pts 6.5 assists and 5.3 rebounds In 07-08 he shot 42%, 29% from 3, and 68% from the free throw line, while averaging 21 pts 5.9 assts and 5 rebounds There's no doubt in my mind that this year will be T-Mac's worst statistical season yet. i'm thinking something along the lines of shooting 42%, 28% from 3, and 65% from the free throw line while averaging 20 ppg.
Keep in mind that through mid-March, T-Mac was shooting 45% from the field...his best since 2002-2003. His last month he shot 35% due to his two injuries, and it brought his overall FG % back down to sub-42%. Everyone refers to 07-08 as a down year for T-Mac...I thought it was his 2nd best as a Rocket. He had a few stretches where he was just horrible due to injury, but his athleticism looked its best since 04-05, and his scoring touch for most of the season looked its best since 04-05.
What a stupid thread, just dumb. His knee will probably be 100% when the season starts so I don't understand this. We haven't seen any game (even preseason_ and you still post thinkg like that? So ok, can we be sure about Yao's shape. Morey said he is completly out of basketball shape so we can expect the same from Yao...just DUMB Lock
Come on man, usually most of you guys wait until 2 minutes into the first game of the season before you proclaim that the sky is falling...
he shot worse in 05-06 at 40.7% before bouncing back in 06-07. look, we know tmac is not gonna be healthy this year so i don't expect a super regular season performance from him. but we have a deep team. as long as tmac shows up in the PLAYOFFS, that's fine. tmac will get his 20, 5, 5 and then puts up his 27, 8, 7 in the playoffs.
The team will have all the time in the season to get things in order for the playoffs. Nothing will be judge until the playoffs, until then let us all enjoy the ride towards the playoffs because this will be "One Hell of Season"
again, his knee will probably be around 90% when the seasn starts so that's good. his shoulder will get arthritis throughout the season which may limit him at times so it's good if we can reduce his load early and get everybody else more involved. again, tmac at this stage doesn't care about the reg. season. nor does yao or artest or adelman or alexander or the fans. we have NOT WON in the playoffs for more than a decade. we've won 50+ games the past few years. and yet teams seem to clamor over tmac's performance in the reg. season than playoffs? when has tmac sucked in the playoffs?
You are completly right. McGrady Yao, Artest have already shown they can do a lot by themselves. Now everything ahould be about winning and looks like it is. But we still have a LONG way to reach the playoffs so it would be nice to watch Tracy playing well also in the regular season.
again, for all the complaints, this team has won 55 games the past 2 years. the reg. season is NOT the problem. the problem is getting guys healthy to freakin' play in the playoffs. alston AND yao (2/5 of your starting lineup) gone (alston for part) of the playoffs. that's absurd.
tracy wont be any worse than the GARM was during this off season with threads like this. seriously who knows how he will play this was the first time he has had surgery he probably play cautiously at first to see how his body reacts and then round into form like most players.
I don't know why people don't understand this. I really hope Tracy plays 32 mins per and Yao plays about 30, and Ron about 34. With Shane and Barry on the bench as well as a resigned deke, it really makes no sense for those guy to play more than that. Rafer should play about 27 mins. And like u said, its about getting these guys to the playoffs healthy and ready to go forward.
LAST 28 games of the playoff season is all i care about or better yet just 16 so we can celebrate early
