That's a good point. I don't think it explains rioting after NBA championship victories, but I suppose that may be a different breed of riot (a happy riot instead of an angry riot). I'm still not really sold though. People already are talking (and have been for years) about problems with voter count manipulation. Many claim the last election was stolen. And, in this election cycle, there's been lots of discussion of people not voting for Obama due to his ethnicity, and all the race-card-playing by either or both candidates. I can't imagine that the black community won't take it personally if Obama is denied the presidency through injustice. It probably is not as personal as police brutality, but it has implications that are as important for the black community. The only other reaction I can imagine (which would probably be mine) is cynical fatalism: that those who said "they" would never let a black man be president were right. I have the luxury of getting to choose fatalism because I'm white.
That's because there is no school named Kenn State...(Unless you are abbreviating Kennesaw State University, in which there were no riots or shootings.) It is KENT State that you are thinking of.
WOW...absolutely wow. Comments made in this thread are truly sad. You know.....Just say how you REALLY feel and stop hiding behind your words and back tracking. CaseyH obviously has a perception of MANY African American people and starting this thread clearly shows that the perception he has isn't that great. Why start a thread like this if you're not harboring those deep feelings? Black people have been apart of riots before....I get it! Just be a man and admit what you feel openly.....is it that hard? I might not agree with you, but atleast I can respect the fact you had the guts to just say it/write it.

I love the people accusing me of racism here have never met me in person. Let me say it like this, it would be impossible for me to have a white daughter and not just cause I am in a mixed race marriage.

For the record....I'm not calling you a racist. You're right, I don't know you. What I was saying is that what you wrote gave me the perception that you believe African Americans would riot if Obama didn't win. When you used LA as reference...it became obvious to me and some others. I disagree with you...does that mean I'm using the race card?

Why did you quote me when talking about people accusing you of racism? Further, I clearly wasn't talking about YOUR daughter(s). I said OUR daughters...meaning white people. Non-white daughters are not worth talking about, much less protecting.
I am all for rioting as a political statement. It is clearly so effective in getting authority figures to take action. I especially support people throwing bricks at the heads of random, innocent people such as truck drivers. Senseless violence is what seperates us from the beasts of the jungle.
