Anyone take the Park and Ride (or any bus for that matter) from Katy to the Galleria? If so, which route do you use? How much does it cost? The only one I can find makes me go downtown first. The stress of traffic is getting to me. The time itself wouldn't bother me if I didn't have to deal with assholes every single morning and afternoon, so I need to find someway to get to work where I can just put on my iPod, read my book/paper and relax as much as possible. TIA.
Good point, I doubt it. I don't understand why they don't have the lanes open on I-10 eastbound already. They're good enough for the Metro buses, they should be good enough for the rest of us!
Yea, I certainly understand your frustration, as I had to make that drive for 2 weeks. It's everything that sucks about Houston traffic (jerk drivers, bad drivers, inconsiderate drivers, really bad drivers) compressed into one 20 mile stretch of road all at the same time. However, I really think once the lanes open up Westbound, as well as the Katy Tollway (which I'd be happy to pay whatever amt to bypass the traffic), it will be much more tolerable. I know it's not much consolation for now, but they are aiming to get that done by the end of October. In the meantime, what I did towards the end of my stay in Katy, was get up at the butt-crack of dawn and drive to work, and relax, read a paper, etc..
Yeah, I would love to be able to come in early every day, but since the girl and I have been car pooling, that's not feasible with my job. We have to stagger our shifts so that we're not both here at the same time.
I've been taking it from Kingwood to downtown to Allen Parkway for about a year now and LOVE it. I dread the 3 or 4 days a month I actually have to drive to work. I'm not sure exactly which park and ride bus you would take, but you could probably take it to the NW transit center (I-10 and 610), hop off, jump on the 286 which would drop you off around the Gallaria. Try this: http://tripplanner.ridemetro.org/
I used to ride from N Shepherd PR to Bellaire and it was awesome. My job relocated off Westpark and it would take over an hour and a half to get to work and two transfers so I've been driving. I wish there was an easier way to get to work without driving.
