    $18..
Game 3 video, Musburger tells the audience about the bad economy in houston and how hot basketball tickets were, front row seats normally $18 were going for much higher for the Finals.

    Ah the Summit!

its better than NBC dude. Think beyond the graphics.

The music is better for CBS in my opinion, the transition from story lines is better and Musburger is better than Costas. Costas was the most biased dude and was mainly a baseball guy.

Look at the how even the story lines are distributed too. NBC was completely biased to whatever team they wanted to win, the Knicks, Bulls, etc.

NBA on NBC was far greater. Maybe I'm biased. I grew up as a kid watching 90s bb. Every Sunday after church I would go and watch the Suns, Bulls, Rockets, Knicks, and Pistons to that great intro. Bob Costas, Marv Albert, and Doug Collins. I miss the NBA on NBC intro, it was great hearing it again during the Olympics.

Lets just agree that ABC sucks.

look so did I. that's not the point of this thread but if u want to compare let me throw this one out. notice on the cbs intro if its rox vs celts its the only teams they show. the intros now and with nbc show the nba stars like shaq and jordan etc.. it was pure on cbs. note also how much they talk about the cities like houston.. not only about the players. today its not about the city anymore

let me refresh your memory: Game7 NBA Finals 93 NBC
Very dramatic, but at the beginning, do you see just the Rockets and the Knicks? How much time did the Rockets get on the intro?

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rryd_lUtZ8I&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rryd_lUtZ8I&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

    now Game 3 1986 CBS
Note, no cheese. 1st the Rockets, 2nd the Celtics, 3rd the City of Houston
No Bob Costas cheese, just the facts and story line of the Finals.

plus the music (nbc tried its best rip off, but this was OBVIOUSLY first)

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/D0mvoYy4tfI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/D0mvoYy4tfI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

    Pure.

    Awesome!

Can't wait for the off season to be over. If CBS were to get the NBA over ABC that would be good too. I understand that people here like NBC, obviously better than ABC, but I can't forget all those times we got snubbed for national TV and Costas running his mouth about everybody else besides the Rockets,,,Michael Jordan.the Knicks..OJ Simpson.. the Yankees.. etc

At least Hannah Storm kept it real.

    thanks!

look how freaking informative the first minute of it is.. not a long ass Bob Costas story with hidden snubs against the Rockets ( "the Rockets playing in an uncertain era of basketball"..etc, sorry Costas, We're smart enough to read your snubs)

its 1. the Rockets recap 2. the Celtics recap 3. the city of Houston.. Summit

see? how great these intros were. its about the NBA Finals, not some cheesy story line

I agree the CBS intros owns any other intros........the music just gives me chills every time I hear it.

I still remember shooting some baskets at home and having that music play in my head while I'm shooting.......CLASSIC!!!

Well, tinman, the only way CBS or NBC would have a shot at the NBA is if ESPN went under. ESPN is grabbing every damn sport they can get their hands on. Conglomerate bastards.

It was a great feeling to hear the NBA on NBC during the Olympics.

Loved watching the b.s OJ chase during our NBA Finals.....

I loved me some Hannah Storm....the only good thing about NBC sports -

Costas always goes into his long drawn out intros as if we're about to watch an epic battle between the Bucks and Knicks. Boring crap.

Loved it back in the day whenever Dick Stockton or Brent Musberger would be calling the game. Straight to the point.

Then with all Houston sports, we always get the media backhand slap to the face as if somehow it was a mistake to have basketball, football, and baseball this far south in redneck land.

It's better. That's my opinion, anyway. The CBS team was superb. Just watching that game 5 from '86 (probably my favorite game of all the Rockets games I've seen) and that broadcast team gives me the chills. In the intro (thanks, BTW!), they speak of the possible "changing of the guard," and it was seen that way across the country. People that weren't old enough to remember just don't realize what a superstar Ralph Sampson was. That we got the Dream and the two meshed so well totally freaked the rest of the league out. We had who should have been a future Hall of Fame point in Lucas, and just amazing depth. Seems like yesterday to me. What a team!

edit: don't know why I said "regular season." I meant playoff game! except fot the championship games, of course. (I was a dummy!)

    Unbeatable.

    Until game 6.

That was a good year, regardless of the outcome.

Wish I could buy some of that $14/barrel oil right about now!!!

CBS is great - their college ball coverage always fantastic.

The music from CBS barely beats out NBC's theme. I'm biased because it's what I grew up with. especially saturday mornings after cartoons when the college games would start. Phi Slamma Jamma baby!
