Anyone else catch the premiere last night on HBO? I had no idea what it was, but saw the ads and wanted to get in on the ground floor of an HBO series for once. I thought it was hilarious even if the last scene went a tad too far, but still had me rolling. For those who've never heard of it, it's a skit show/mockumentary of British people interacting with Americans with a narrator setting up each scene. Had me laughing all the way through. "I love you more than cumshots!" "In America, there are more fat people than people."
I heard about the show when it was super popular in England and the little bits I watched didn't really grab my attention.
I had almost written the show off after a few of the earlier skits seemed to be trying too hard, but the second half was just great. The locker room and astronaut sketches killed me. Is the laugh track there just to be ironic? That gag's probably going to get old.
Who wants to get lunch at Fat Ammy's? First one there needs to order the "basket of donuts" and the "64 ounce colas"
I watched it last night.. I thought it was a solid show, it had flashes of Kids in the Hall and some low spots too.. I agree with AntiSonic that the second half seems to be the better part of the show.. Some things I noticed on the credits, it was created by Simon Fuller, he is the same guy who created American Idol and David Schwimmer is the director.. I'll be watching next week to see how the show develops.
We had to rewind the part where the kid asks him if he'd ever been to any other planets. The response was classic!
I didn't see the new one, but the old stuff was pretty good. I am curious if its the same two guys. The Lou and Andy sketches are some of my favorite. "Yeah I know."
i watched this last night...I agree it got stronger as the show went on. Are there going to be new sketches every week or will it revolve around the same characters? oh the sketch with the girl and mom saying how much they love each other was hillarious. same with the fat figthers sketch with rosie odonnell i didnt really care for the sketch of the husband and wife at dinner or the rude receptionist at the hospital i enjoyed it I'll set my dvr to record it weekly to see how it progresses.
