@sea, @GSt, @Utah, vs Sac and vs Phoe...here's to hoping we go 0-5 or 1-4...its time to put away the pride fellas and stock up on the balls... I don't know about you guys, but I couldnt have been more thrilled when I saw the scores roll by last night and saw Atl, NY and Clev with victories knowing that we were in for a beating in Sactown.
Those are the 3 key teams for our pick. Hopefully, all 3 finish with a better record. I'm not a tanker per se, I think the Rockets losing on a shot after the clock is the perfect scenario. They play well enough to win, but lose on a fluke call. Unless the Knicks have an extremely difficult schedule, I think they will probably finish ahead of the Rocks. Atlanta and Cleveland have been playing better, lately. It would be nice if the Rockets could play really well till the end of the season, get good contributions and development out of Langhi, Collier, Brown and T-Mo, but have N.Y., Atlanta and Cleve get really hot and finish a game better than the Rockets.
I think at this point I agree and I think Rudy agrees with you also with the minutes he's giving to Collier and Dan. Also, at least someone get a flagrant knocking Karl Malone's teeth out on "accident" _______________________ milo
hey im going to seattle game fri so i dont want to see us lose...win that game but lose all the rest.
Indeed. Boy did Lamond Murray yack ... talk about deja vu. I'm thinking the 5th seed in the lottery is about the best we can get. We are some 6 games behind and Denver, at 19 wins, isn't falling below fourth with that southward roster and McDyess' new , ahem, "injuries". I am so disappointed about Toronto. My goodness. Who would have thought it? Not Flutie apparently. I mean 30-38? They're lottery-bound unfortunately - I highly doubt they can catch Miami, Washington and Charlotte.
IMO, Toronto is doing a little tanking of its own. I wouldnt have thought that 2 weeks ago but at this point,(especially with Vince ailing) I'm sure they are well aware of the fact that they would give up a pick if they barely make the playoffs. Im just surprised they havent shut Vince down yet.
The 5th pick would be great. Assuming Yao Ming will be in the draft, at the 5th spot one of these guys would be available. Yao Ming, Jason Williams, Drew Gooden, Qyntel Woods, Wagner...not sure who else. If we can get Gooden or Woods, keep him. It sounds like both will be pretty good. But if we somehow get a shot at Jason Williams or another pretty good guard, then that would make excellent trade bait. I don't want Ming, though, because of all the overhead and hoops we would have to jump through just to get him on the floor. It would suck to use a high pick on a 7'5" player, not see him for 2 years, and THEN have him turn out to be mediocre.
I'm thinking probably 2-3. I think we can take Seattle and I think we can take Utah. Seattle has no inside game and if we contain their 3-point shooters, we'll win, no doubt. And I think the Rockets have the confidence that they can beat the Jazz, which is all you need when you play in Utah.
It would be... I think 5-6 is the end of the prime time slots (but who knows come draft time), and they would be valuable on the market. But just a reminder: The 5th seed doesn't mean 5th pick for sure... in fact if we don't get one of the top three, it wouldn't be common for us to get the 5th pick. We could end up anywhere from 5th to 8th .... depending on who gets the top three (if the top three teams are all from the 4 teams ahead of us, then yes we get #5). 6-7 is probably likely (though don't know the real odds). Sure you know that, just remindin'
Actually, I had forgotten about that little tidbit until I read your Lotto Balls race 2002 today and ran the lotto balls simulator a couple times. I ran it five times: once we got the 3rd pick, once we got the 1st pick, once we got the 5th pick, and twice we got the 6th pick. But the 6th pick would be fine by me.
There is a guy from UConn who I thought they were touting on ESPN yesterday or the day before about being the best player in the tournament. Anyone know anything about who it might be and how him coming out might affect the draft? Anybody else that might come out that would bump one or two of these guys down a notch?
Ugh... Those injuries are doing wonders for my fantasy team... Good thing I'm in first place and I got a bye this week for the playoffs... Too bad Eddie went down. But I guess it's a good opportunity to see the likes of Jason Collier out on the floor more. At least something productive will be going on if we lose.
Threads like this are exactly why I hardly ever come here. Losing begets a losing mentality, and too many people on this board are promoting that. The difference between a 5th pick and a 7th pick is Jason Richardson and Eddie Griffin. To me, that's not worth hoping my team loses. Tankers suck.
