landry, dorsey, dekembi. all the problems come from the mean les. les is always reluctant to offer his staffs a little more money, never to mention the luxury tax. if morey offered 9m/3yrs to the other two, i find no reason for them to refuse the offer. But morey can't offer them that offer becasuse he would be fired immediately once he puts his boss upon the luxury tax line.

Only Deke left now. If Les doesn't want to pay more for Deke, just sign Deke as an assistant coach and not worry about luxury tax. When we need Deke on court, we'll put him in the roster (if someone is injured).

Always living up to your name, aren't you?

There are limitations to what he can offer them due to the salary cap. Dorsey can be signed for what is left of the Mid-level exception, and Mutombo will have to be signed with some other exception.

I wouldn't say it was perfect. For a guy interested in writing, sentence structure and verb tense are important lessons to learn. Your second sentence needs commas after Rockets and playoffs. Your third sentence has an unneccessary comma after Dorsey, and needs a comma after Memphis. Your fourth sentence is ackward and "came short" should be changed to "fell short". Entitling is the wrong tense and champions doesn't need capitalization, but really that whole clause is confusing. I'd change the part after "overtime" to "where Kansas ultimately prevailed." In the next paragraph, "also" should be "fellow", "following" should be deleted, and "which was the time that" can be replaced by "when".

If you're not concerned with that stuff, forget I said anything.

I was asking because it's really not very well written for someone who's a native English speaker. For someone who's not, it's pretty good. By the way, ronnymac, don't expect to last long or have your opinion respected on this forum if you're going to go around calling people idiots when you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

I wasn't, and no, it wasn't. But let's all join in on the clutchfans circle jerk and sugar coat everything when someone asks for an opinion, right?! Awesome.

    Thank you.

I wasn't ripping the guy or trying to poke fun. I honestly wanted to know if English was his first language so I could assess things fairly. It's not well written in and of itself, but considering he's working with a disadvantage, I'd say it's pretty good.

It wasn't that hard to understand why I asked that question, in my opinion.

I'm assuming it's a 3 year deal with a team option in the last year, like Landry's. That would be in line with Morey's plan to keep cap space open for the '10 off-season.

I thought the most you could offer a 2nd round rookie was two years?

Didn't think it was neccesary but Rockets agreed with a 4 year deal with Dorsey.

The Rockets completed one last piece of off-season business on Sunday, reaching agreement on a contract with rookie center/forward Joey Dorsey on the eve of players’ reporting for Tuesday’s start of training camp.

Dorsey is expected to sign a four-year, $3.5 million contract, with each of the last two seasons at the team’s option.

The deal, using a portion of the mid-level exception money left available after the signing of Carl Landry, will avoid a repeat of the protracted restricted free agent negotiations with Landry.

Though Dorsey was chosen with the third pick of the second round, the contract was structured similar to a first-round draft choice. The difference is that the Rockets will have the option to pick up another season of the contract after the second and third seasons, rather than before those seasons as with first-round picks.

The Rockets acquired Dorsey with a Portland Trail Blazers pick they had acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies. The Rockets expect Dorsey, the Conference-USA Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and as a senior, to be able to contribute quickly. Though just 6-7, the Rockets hope his strength and long reach will allow him to work in the backup center rotation.

With the Rockets’ trade of first-round pick Donte’ Greene to the Sacramento Kings to acquire Ron Artest and with Maarty Leunen to play overseas, Dorsey is expected to be the Rockets’ only rookie.
