On the college level though, especially a place like TSU. Why the heck not hire Murphy? He can recruit some local talent no doubt. That alone would make them way better. From what I remember he was headed to TSU but they wouldn't pay him enough.
I remember a story where Calvin lobbied for and got equipment from city council for his marching band. It was uncovered later that most of the equipment went unused and taxpayer money went to waste. It's just a small thing but I'm willing to bet his reputation on the back channels isn't stellar. Les even fired him one time only to cave in and rehire him due to fan outlash.
