Which ones are you going to? I'm going to see Spiritualized tonight. I'm thinking about Cat Power in October. And maybe A Place to Bury Strangers, but I don't if I can work in a weekday show. I definitely don't go to shows as much as I used to. Most of the bands I'd like to see never seem to come to Houston.
Danzig & Dimmu Borgir on 10/28 Metallica & Down on 11/20 & I fully intend to get tickets to the AC/DC show in December.
Shiny Toy Guns next week at Warehouse Live. MSTRKRFT next month at Warehouse Live. Of Montreal @ Warehouse Live on Nov 12th. Nine Inch Nails @ Planet Hollywood in Vegas on Dec 13th.
This is the main reason I moved out of Houston. Lack of indie rock music scene. Tomorrow I see Ratatat. I saw Tokyo Police Club on Thursday. These are the rest of concerts I'm seeing till December here in NYC: Hot Chip Andrew Bird TV on the Radio Crystal Castles Born Ruffians Plants and Animals The Last Shadow Puppets Grizzly Bear The National Mark Kozelek M83 The Rosebuds The Decemberists Matisyahu Wolf Parade Yeasayer Bon Iver
Has anyone been the new House of Blues venue? I think TV on the Radio is scheduled to play there sometime in October.
My bad, I just checked, it opens in October. Here is the lineup. Looks pretty decent: http://www.hob.com/tickets/searchresults.asp?venue=Houston
10.12 Presidents of The United States of America (didn't know they were still around) 10.31 Willie Nelson (always a good show) 11.04 Joe Satriani (see above) and some really good metal acts. not a bad first 3 months for the HOB to book to break it in.
crystal castles are ****ing horrible. pitchfork can lick my balls. anyways.... really wanted to catch GOP/Spiritualized tonight @ the meridian but i actually wanted to catch the debates even more... drive by truckers wed. night was damn good. black keys 9/30 at meridian (maybe) widespread panic 10/10 and 10/11 at the backyard ryan adams 10/14 thievery corp 10/24 HOB cold war kids 10/25 meridian kings of leon 10/28 verizon (even though they have officially sold out and their new album blows) widepsread panic 10/30 and 10/31 in new orleans black crowes 11/20 HOB
lifted from the HAIF board: maybe it's just me, but i thought there would be more glam to the HP than this. these were taken shortly after ike came through.
Honestly, I don't blame you. I don't plan on living here for the rest of my life, but for now, it's probably the most feasible thing for me to do. I'm dying to see M83. I think I would faint. We used to have a pretty good indie scene, but it's just completely drowned out. When I went to Spiritualized last night, it was literally like people (read: drunken a--holes) were just coming off the street. That's fine and all, until they start pushing people (really, at a Spiritualized show?) and yelling really redneck things and just disrupting the show. Makes me think that bands stay away from here for a reason.
I don't go to concerts as much as I used to, first because I don't live as close to Austin, and second because I've realized I hate the indie scene, but I would kill to see Ratatat and that is why I hate you Mr. Brightside. Next Friday an incredible metal band will be in town, Becoming the Archetype. I've been e-mailing them for 2 years to come back to Houston. If I didn't have class I would go, but I have to pick up that extra science credit to graduate.
