    I know that's of a week ago, but I read it today in Spain and I was surprised.

    Around Spain has always ran the topic that many northamericans do not know to situate the country on the map; I do not want to believe this but ...

    I know FOR A FACT they speak Spanish there, so don't try and tell me they're not Mexican.

    McCain was confused. Wasn't sure what exactly he was thinking but Spain wasn't on his mind at the time. It's just another example of senior moment. On its own the gaffe isn't really an issue. But the way McCain handle it post interview is piss poor. He would rather continue on with his "tough stance" than just admit it's a minor mistake.

    Pppbigppp, Bush/McCain have 0 relathionships with J.L. Zapatero (a.k.a Mr. Bean) and 0 intention of starting it, but it's fair to say that the feeling is mutual. In other way I can tell you Zapatero is OK with Obama, like the most of european presidents.

    Well if Obama were running for president of the EU, then your opinion would be valuable. Thanks for your input. You clearly don't know much about what's going on in the US presidential election

    McCain drones on about political leaders in S. America that 80% of the country probably doesn't know the names of. The interviewer's accent is thick, which on the surface gives him an out. It could be like his campaign is claiming, he was deliberately avoiding to answer the question.

    It's likely a little of both. He didn't understand Zappatero in her initial question and like pppbigppp stated (I agree your reply), he wasn't in that mindset. When she restated it, it wasn't something he wanted to get into.

    The Bush-like response after the fact is more disturbing to me.

    Spain is easy to locate. It's the all the interior European countries that give us fits. Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland, etc . . .
