    Dear Incompetent Bastards,

Refereeing in the NBA is horrendous. You know, I won't even touch the constant favoring of elite teams, unbelievably insane ejections, idiotic sense of judgement, or "rookie calls" and "veteran calls." I question the intentions of the referees period. Everything. The fact that the refs basically said "screw it" the other night in the Bulls/Rockets game and let the game stand unfinished was disgusting. With 0:00 on the clock, Jalen Rose still had a firm grasp on the orange sphere. That game might have gone into 4,5 overtimes the way the two teams were playing. I bet if the Lakers and Kings were playing the refs would have given a bit more thought to a shot that came almost an entire second after the horn. Pffft.

Great job, NBA, at wasting potential excitement. Congrats for blowing it again.

...that's exactly why I didn't waste my time in the email room. They wouldn't even read my letter after seeing who it was addressed to, anyway.

This is what I sent in, but I don't expect a response or anything. But I think voices need to be heard. The squeaky wheel gets the grease....

I have written in the past about the horrendous officiating I have seen in the past year and a half in the NBA. But how on earth can what you call "trained" referees blow a call like they did Sat. night in Chicago.

Jalen Rose hit a shot WELL AFTER the final buzzer at the end of the second overtime period to "win" the game.

It was clearly evident to me in real time that the shot was late, and the replay made it even more glaring.

How can your guys miss calls that are so obvious and blatant like that?

What a sad sad excuse for officiating. The game would be better off with the players calling their own fouls like we do in local gyms. That was absolutely horrific.

Just so you know, the NBA probably loves these emails. I know we love complaint emails at our company, even though that's not the complainer's intent. What it shows is that fans care about the product. We'd be more worried if people didn't complain.

Keep in mind that as much as you complain that things suck, you're still watching their product. :)

I don't think anyone's arguing that we don't like, or will not continue to like the product. But that doesn't change the fact that the officiating is lacking or leaves much to be desired. Of course, I love NBA basketball. But that doesn't mean that improvements cannot be made in some areas of this product.

I for one, just feel better having typed up a quick email to let them know what I think about the events Sat. night. I don't much care what they do with it, if anything.

    Dear Incompetent Bastards,

Thank you for blowing that late non-call on Rose's game-winning shot. The game could not have ended better. The Rockets got the boost in confidence knowing they played well enough to win and only got the loss because of the incompetence of the refs. At the same time, they improved their lottery position. It was a win-win situation for us. Thanks again!

    Sincerely,
    Houston Tanker

ahh...but they say more than that. they say the fans care about the product, but they're worried about it too. if they are worried enough that they will write in and complain, they must also be worried enough to become tired of the product due to its problems. i doubt your company jsut takes the complaints, basks in the glory of their consumers caring enough about them to complain and then throws them away. Hopefully some sort of action occurs to address some of the more glaring issues.

...nightmare flashback to our little friend who allowed DRob's garbage after the buzzer costing us home court(and a possible title) against the Sonics...I'll grudgingly take it now rather than in the playoffs, but the officiating leaves much to be desired.

That's a bad theory for the NBA and it shows with attendance being down around the league and ratings going into the toilet.

They won't change the outcome or their stance on officiating. It simply may lead to another ping pong ball...

    My letter to the NBA:

I have never written in with my opinion about the officiating in this league because it is just that...my opinion. But how on earth can what you call "trained" referees blow a call like they did Sat. night in Chicago when the Bulls hosted the Rockets. Jalen Rose hit a shot WELL AFTER the final buzzer at the end of the second overtime period to "win" the game. Now I know not every call can be made and not every foul can be seen, and that they are doing their best out there; it was clearly evident to me in real time that the shot was late, and the replay made it even more glaring. When a call that is questionable even to them, a call that DECIDED the game, is allowed without review??? What if that were the deciding game between the two teams for the last playoff spot, and the the Rockets were robbed BY THE LEAGUE of a post season opportunity?? I think there should be some serious retooling of the officiating process. I know that I am a nobody to you and that you probably get a million of these letters a day, but at least now I can rest better knowing that I expressed my dismay of the NBA and all its "rules and regulations" You are slowly ruining the game for us along with the players. I love my team and will always support them, but I am so disgusted with the "NBA" I will not watch, buy or even acknowledge anything with reference to it. Good day gentleman:mad:

Why are some posters saying "the Chicago Bulls hosting the Houston Rockets"? Or "the game in Chicago"? I think it was a home game at the Compaq Center. I was there.

You guys really scared me. :(

We shouldnt have lost the game due to a shot after the buzzer, but we shouldnt have been in that situation in the beginning. It is unexcusable to be playing toe-to-toe with the Bulls (they suck). Also, its not like this game really matters that much. It does suck to see another loss tallied up, but its not going to determine playoff seeding or anything. Besides, in a way, it will sort of help us as far as lottery seeding goes.
