I know the Rockets will now match the offer and have Landry but I did not think it would cost this much. He is a 2nd round draft pick that dropped to the 2nd because of injury in college and his first year he was injured.

This is almost as much as Scola makes and he is much more proven at the pro level.

Don't get me wrong I am happy we are getting him signed but out of curiosity I want to know what everyone was thinking as for dollar amounts?

(Also it is impossible to put "value" in the conversation because I think the majority of NBA players are not paid what they are worth either over or under)

It's exactly what I thought was the market price for Landry. You should include that option.

I assumed any offer sheet might be a bit lower, just because no team really thinks they are getting him away from us.

I think 200 mil. per year would be a fair offer. But, I also think the rockets should match it. The rockets can trade him to the bobcats in the middle of season since they really want him.

Less. He's worth at least 5 mill when compared to other contracts out there.

And this is the 5th freaking thread on landry. A mod needs to merge all the topics into one thread.

Dude we just have heard news on the off-season story that started before last season ended. This story began once Landry started playing like a grown man out there among boys.

    This is huge.

There should have been a 3rd option for the contract being what was expected. I predicted 3 yrs, $8-9 million over a month ago.

Not really you should pick more cause this is 9 million. You had a range and this is the upper limit of it.

Thats all I am really asking. This is also the upper limit of my range. I guessed no more than Scola. This is no more than Scola but it is REALLY close.

I wish creating Polls werent an option anymore.

It was actually lower than I was expecting. Im still not sure we match it, but I hope to be wrong.

he should've got at least 4 mill compared to other PF's in the league. i'm glad bobcats only offered 3 mill. we can defintely match this.

No, he's only worth as much as his best offer.

It's about what I expected, maybe a little less. I thought somewhere in the 3-3.5 million range would be fair for him. I am curious if the Rockets are going to continue to insist on an examination for his knee, though.

3 years 9 mil with a team option is about what I expected from the Rockets, but I am surprised another team would waste their time. That is hardly a very serious attempt at luring him away. Having a player option and starting at over 4 mil would have pressed the Rockets more.

    http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

Jonathan Givony reports the offer sheet Carl Landry has signed with the Charlotte Bobcats is for three years and $9 million. Houston will almost certainly match. HoopsHype.com

The Rockets were previously offering Landry three years and $6.8 million, one source told Givony. Indiana and Cleveland were close to extending offer sheets as well

Here is what I thought on record (A_3PO and Deckard were spot on as well)....

What about an "about what I expected" option?

It's about right...he would have been offered the full MLE if the knee issue wasn't out there

More than I expected but reasonable enough to match it. Those people that believe he should've gotten the full MLE, let's just be glad they're not the GM. Landry may be a efficient player but you still don't want to overpay, 3 years/9 mil sounds reasonable.
