There is big scam going on in Houston right. Story goes like this, I was suppose to attend a friend's wedding in two weeks at the Bella Terrezza which is a very nice facility for wedding reception. Anyhow, got a call this morning from the bride telling me that place filed for chapter 11 and scammed many people. My friend lost about 11K total and we are now scrambling to find an alternate venue. Then on my way to work I heard Roula and Ryan on 104.1 talk about this very scam like its happening all over the place. They said the company involved in this scam has two more location The Chef's Table and Tuscany at River Oaks all of which are going bankrupt and people who booked with them got robbed because bankruptcy laws favor the company. Anyways just to give you the heads up on this fraud, please post any info you have or suggestions that might help people involved in this matter. Personally I hope the owners of this place get arrested for fraud and rot in jail.
This is just unbelievable... I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the opening post... people listen to Roula and Ryan?
I live one block from the Bella Terrezza and there was just a wedding reception there this passed Sunday...
That stinks. It seems to happen to various places, as earlier in the year my bro's sister-in-law had that happen to her by Agave Road. I am not sure if they were ever able to get the deposit back. Suggestions for venues, as long as you don't mind a bit of a drive, would be Texas Safari Ranch. It is not as centrally located as Bella Terrazza, but the venue fees are very reasonable. Safari Ranch
QFT. My wife and I paid for our own (her family just wasn't in a position to help out), and even trying to keep everything cheap, it was outrageously expensive. Things get marked up 100-200% when people hear the word "wedding". And venues can run from rude, to shady, to downright criminal with little regard for how their customers feel. Marriage = Weddings =

I love the idea of a wedding, but just thinking about the expenses gives me a headache, especially since being the bride, my family would carry the burden of the expenses. I know no relatives outside of my immediate family, so I wouldn't want a terribly large wedding. That's not the case for most people, and definitely not the case with my boyfriend's family. I just have a feeling it will go from being a day that's supposed to be about me and "us" to a day about satisfying everyone else. Awful to hear about these kinds of scams.
yea no kidding...we were in a similar situation as you. the place that was providing her dress fitted her a larger size and told her the alterations would be minimal (~$200) to be fitted. they ended up charging her close to $400 to get it fitted because the thing was so damn big...then they charged an expedite fee to get the dress back in time even though they were the ones who set the fitting appointment in the first place with prior knowledge of the wedding date... ...and theres nothing you can do without jeopordizing getting the dress in time...crooks man..
I had my wedding reception there...not only do they have a variety of ballrooms to fit your needs, but they really work with you to fit the reception into your budget.
This sounds like when, a while back, the Boston Sea Party restaurant booked a boatload of company Christmas parties for December, filed bankruptcy and took the deposits.
Sorry for everyone that happened to. Don't let the wedding industry take your money; it's just not worth it. Or what everybody wants: "everybody" can go and deal with it, it's not their wedding. I'm just going to have a small ceremony in the church and minimal refreshments in the fellowship hall. You're still just as married at the end of the day. Save the money to make your daily lives better, or to have a nice honeymoon.
I got married at the Four Seasons downtown a few months ago. We spent months looking for the perfect place and the Four Seasons was just that. I don't know how much your friend wants to spend though. We liked Bella Terraza as well, but its capacity was too small. Glad we didn't book there with this unfortunate news. Good luck to the couple. PM me if you want more info on the Four Seasons and a contact for the wedding planner there.
