Bottom line: Nobody really knows how well Steve is going to perform or how soon he'll be back on the court. Why not wish/pray for the best? Go Steve!
Bottom line: There is a huge difference between wishing for something and expecting something. I like all the optimism though.
Man doesn't sound good for Steve, I hope he can make a recovery in 7-8 months instead of the full year it usually takes but I just downgraded my expectations for Francis this year.
Steve is such a versatile player when healthy, He can effect the game in so many different ways ala Baron Davis that if he ever gets that first step back the L is in trouble........ More trouble then they are in already....... He is far more than just a slasher that can finish..............
Well, I hope Francis will get all the rest he need and try not to rush his recovery. We will be fine with Alston, Brooks and others as PG for the season. We'll need Francis more in the playoffs and hopefully he can start having some PT after the all-stars.
Wow, you guys are so optimistic. i hope you're right. but reality is that he is done. finished. finito. kaput. adios.
He has surgery last February, and the doctors are suggesting a year before full contact drills. So best case scenario he makes it back to the court in February without having played for the last year. I'm willing to wager that the rotation will be pretty much set by then. Barring injury or some other unseen factor Francis will not see the court this season. Gotta like his optimism though.
He sounds to me like he still doesn't give a $%^&, as long as he is getting paid. Same old Steve. If its not important to his game, too bad for everyone else. The guy has limited athletic ability now and always had a low basketball IQ. He has officially played the hometown con card...... continue to worship to no avail. I hope i have misread him altogether but IMO everything I have said has been formulated after years of disappointment.
After that interview, crow is looking less appetizing. So I'm backing off a bit and just say I'll support him without expectations.
Cut him during training camp. If he really won't be ready until the second half of the season, then that means the likelihood of him making any kind of positive impact is low. He won't have played real basketball for...what...14 or 15 months? Maybe he should be shooting for a comeback the following season's training camp instead?
JCF: So let's get right to the question everybody wants to know: Everyone wants to find out if we're going to see the old Steve Francis again. How are you doing physically? SF: I'm not going to sit here and say I'm 100% because I'm not. I still have a ways to go. It's going to be a tough process, but I'm willing to sacrifice. Even if I don't start the season, I know within the next three or four weeks I'll be 100%. I don't want to go out there if I'm not 100% and possibly re-injure myself. JCF: So you're looking at another three or four weeks until you're 100%, or before you can go full-out on the court? SF: Before I can go full-out. The surgery I had, they say it normally takes people about a year to come back. I'm at month six and hopefully within the next three to four weeks I'll be ready to go. When I read this he says he KNOWS he will be 100% in 3 - 4 weeks. That is mid trainging camp, not the All-star break. He knows he doesn't have his wind and that is why he said he doesn't think he will start the season but it doesn't mean he won't make it back before the playoff roster is set, either. How will his injury respond to more use - I say take it slow. We will be fine. Shoot for December to get into the roster a bit, and gradually work your way back.
Exactly, Why are people tripping over this? He said 3 to 4 weeks........ That is perfect, As a bonus he has lost weight so his stamina should be back fairly quick because it's not like he has to lose anything.....
