he just said "the bush administration has failed" as well as admitting that government spending has been out of control in the past 7 years under the bush administration. "we republicans came to washington to change it, and it changed us."

correct me if i'm wrong, but this is the first time since the campaign started, especially since bush's endorsement, that i've heard him blatantly distance himself from the bush administration.

I like how he thinks Palin is "absolutely" ready for the presidency.

I didn't see the interview, but if I was McCain I would too. Obama's huge strength in this campaign was tying McCain to Bush and it's been working. Why not exile and condemn Bush?

Maybe he thinks he has a good grip on the Republican base and now he's trying to grab most of the Independents.

Once you know as much about energy as anyone in America... and once you know that we don't track the oil molecules, such as and like the Iraq, then we will educate them better for our future.

Is this the same McCain that voted lock step with Bush's policies for the last 3 years?

He used the same line in his acceptance speech... but he never mentioned Bush.

    McCain has gotten incredibly two-faced.

"We republicans came to washington to change it, and it changed us." This describes McCain better than nearly anyone else. The guy has reversed his stance on basically every issue that made him a maverick.

Now we're supposed to believe that he's the candidate of change? When your principles don't even last through the primary season, that's a gutsy claim to make.

Obama supporters are now worried that Obama's "ace in the hole" - the fact that McCain is of the same party as Bush - is now going down the tube since McCain is distancing himself from Bush.

not really, this week people got huge dose of reality, and they won't forget nov 4.

I especially like how you're also distancing yourself from bush, its cute. you're a true republican, just ignore the arguments you've been making the last five years.

I have always liked McCain, but I can't trust him, and can not stand Palin.

I think he's used this line a few times since he won the nomination. I noticed on one of his commercials he's also used the line "John, McCain fought Republicans in Washington. Sarah Palin has fought Republicans in Alaska."
