Last year I cringed everytime we took free throws, that one game vs the Pistons at the beginning of the season, we almost lost cause of free throws, and had free throw slumps.

So am I going to cringe this year too?

We get Brent Barry (whos pretty damn good, but rarely goes to FT line.)
    Yao coming back (Thank god)

We got Yao to take our T's. Didn't we use Novak/Shane for FT last year?

I remember that we used Shane and Luther a lot when Yao was out to shoot the T's. Also I really hope that T-mac can work on improving the free throws and at least make them respectable around 75% like he used to be. Like everyone says, he's too good of a shooter out there to be where he's at when it comes to shooting free throws.

Ron Artest's FT shooting percentage last year was 71.9%.He is a 72% FT Career Shooter. Not good, not bad IMO.

No one cares about what percentage of ft you have, the fans just care about the points you score and how many shots you make to get those points. For instance, shaq o'neal is pretty bad at the line but no one can deny the fact that he is among the top 50 players in NBA's history.

In general, the europeans perform much better than American players, and, even the centers from Euro are so good at free throw shoot. However, it doesn't mean our players were less talented but that we don't care too much about the ft. I bet no one wants to watch the players throw the free shots on the line when playing PC games, nor do the fans who are watching man-played games in gym or on TV.

Only the big things do we care about while the trifles are always ingored by us, that's why we can send astronauts onto the moon but the europeans can't.

T-Mac , Battier , Rafer all imo can shoot better.
Especially T-Mac , his free throw shooting is pathetic.

Free throws are the difference that can win you a close game.

If you win 77-76, and you go 19-20 from free throw line as a team. Free throws ARE important.

it's funny you would think barry would be ultra good at ft shooting like near 90% like nash or something. he's good, but yao's ft percentages are still better. guess he's gonna still be our main man taking the tech fts.

i remember hearing that the rocket players under JVG had to make 10 consecutive free throws before they were allowed to leave practice, is this still true with adelman?

Yup you will be cringing with the rest of us. Barry and Yao are solid. Artest is stable (I believe 75% or so), but yea the rest of the Rockets MEHHHH, lets just pray Tmac can be around 70% and I believe thats good enough (none of the rest of the Rockets will have THAT many free throws), but Tmac needs to pull his % up and drive. That would make him unstoppable again :D)

Did you just start a post talking about free throws and end it talking about astronauts?

You may be a genius after all.

That's the problem. Brent Barry will not get to the line a lot, we can be sure about that. He's not here to attack the basket, he is here to bring leadership, give this team his expirence and improve our shooting...

We just gotta make those free throws. I tought last season we were too nervous while shooting them. Players just have to be relaxed, it's not difficult to make ft's. And it all starts with McGrady. Player his 'size' can't shoot ft's below 70%...And once he starts making them he will attack the basket more.

Is this suppose to be a funny post? If it is, you should start your own comedy show.

Last year, Brent was a 95% free-throw shooter, and Yao was 85%. The last time Yao was in the playoffs he was an 88% FT shooter. Barry was an 80% FT shooter on much fewer attempts during his playoff run. Yao is an overall better FT shooter during the playoffs, when he is top notch.

During the regular season, Barry will take technical foul shots even if Yao is in the game. During the playoffs, Yao should take them.

Yes, because PROFESSIONAL players actually practice FTs. Too bad we only have a couple of true professional players on our team.
