At least, as far as issues go, McCain probably said it today:

"Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation." - John McCain

Call me crazy, but I don't think suggesting health care go down the path of our financial system is the smartest thing to suggest this week...

As far as I'm concerned, the whole insurance field (be it health, auto, home, etc.) screws over far more people than it actually helps. There is no merit in opening it to "more competition". It should be government regulated.

Also, as far as I'm concerned, McCain is an idiot anyways. Something new confirms that thought every day.

Oh interesting - I guess he didn't say it today, then. That's good - it would have been the most ridiculously stupid thing to say if he did it today.

But it shows what he believes and it is proven to be a failed policy.

To McCain's credit he did say many times that he is not well versed in economics.. "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should, I've got a Greenspan's book."

Yes we need McCain as president under these tough ECONOMIC times.

The guy has already told you he has no clue about the economy, why are you picking on him? :p If it was me, I’d rather find out who is his economic advisors, they’d be the one’s making the decision when it comes to the economy.

It’s scary to think that the leader of the biggest economy in the world doesn’t know squat about it (hell he doesn’t know how to use a computer, that in itself would show how outdated this guy is). Then again there’s the VP Palin who NOBODY knows squat about, this ticket should be a disaster, how it’s not, is astoundingly amazing.

A very telling post. This post says it all. You have NO DEFENSE of McCain. Instead you try and change the subject. You offer ZERO DEFENSE of what McCAin has said and done over the years.

He has a record, and his recent comments about the economy are making it very clear. McCain isn't fit to be the President.

I think the problems with our healthcare system could be band-aid fixed.

The biggest ones I see are preventive care for poor people which could be state or federally sponsored, and the stupid high prices americans pay for drugs. Most other countries ride our feed wagon because we even out there low prices by paying high ones. If we could somehow put more restrictions on higher priced meds without killing R&D it would be great. Possibly start a sliding scale of caps so they can re negotiate with other countries knowing we will be paying less soon.

    Let's compare McCain to Obama:

McCain: Doesn't know a lot about economy. Says he needs to be educated. Wants 0% interest rates but he's not an expert, doesn't know that would result in inflation.

Obama: had a preacher who said terrible things

McCain: Favors massive deregulation, in fact it was his advisors who pushed through deregulation of predatory loans this decade which directly led to help feeding the severity of the current crisis

Obama: Attended a Christian school in a Muslim country. Makes him "suspicious"

McCain: Wanted to privatize social security - which would hav ebeen a disaster this week. Notice that he hasn't talked much about social security since.

Obama: He's a celebrity like Britney and Paris

My gosh - it's so clear.

In all honesty if this past week is how McCain handles pressure he should not be President and is unfit to lead our nation.

It seems like it has caused him to crack up. He and his campaign are running around saying things like this, calling the fundamentals strong, suggesting that forming a commission is the solution, claiming to be responsible for the blackberry, having one of their top advisors admit he isn't experienced enough to run a company. He has no idea who leads Spain, whether or not they are ally and even what hemisphere Spain is in.

He can't handle the pressure. I never thought that was one of his weaknesses, but apparently it is.
