Centerpoint has said several times that they would fix the major (macro) components first (circuits?) and work progressively downward to the smaller (micro) level which would be something like a transformer that would serve a small group of customers. On the Western side of their service area, it appears that the damage from trees, downed poles, blown transformers and other labor intensive repairs was minor compared to what is being shown for other parts of Metro Houston. Even if one looks at building damage alone, then the Western areas had minimal damage compared to other areas and there are very probably some parallels in the amount of damage to the power distribution system.

They are lowering the amount of Out of Service customers on a daily basis, but aren't making sizable dents even with much more manpower than they had last Saturday and Sunday. Since they are mostly finished on the Western edge and are working in others areas that have taken more damage, then the labor allocation - distribution was correct for getting the most customers resored as possible.

Scenario:

If there are 100 customers Out of Service and the following labor distribution is required to restore service, how would you allocate the labor?

A. 25 customers Requires X amount of labor to restore
B. 25 customers Requires 2X amount of labor to restore
C. 25 customers Requires 3X amount of labor to restore
D. 25 customers Requires 4X amount of labor to restore

By using 3X amount of Labor, they are able to get 50% of their customer base back in service.

Do you have a plan that would be more logical?

I think they took much heat because they took so long to figure out how bad the damage was. It took like 2 days before any real progress was made. This probably helped the long term job of getting the power back on but it was bad for PR.

Same here. I am not 100% sure how this really is working. It is a bit frustrating when you don't even see a truck anywhere in the area. Even more frustrating when I other neighborhoods that were hit alot harder than mine already have lights. I luckily have a place to go to with lights, but I would much rather be back in my own house.

I read a story that said sometimes after the electricity is reconnected. It can go get shorted again, due to more loose tree limbs on different section of the line.

I got electricity back friday. Most of my zip77087 is still out and is on schedule for the 25th.

I'm in 77055 and just got power back tonight. I only know because my apartment manager texted me (I'm staying at a friend's), so I don't know about cable/internet.

Still no power at home. Still not sure if we have power at work. Still not sure if I go to work tommorow. Still not sure if I do work it will be from a different location.

If I have to go to work all week AND have no power to come home to AND a curfew... Do not cross me.

Thankfully just got power back.

The team was from Connecticut (linemen) and Illinois (tree trimmers). A couple of Centerpoint guys were standing there "supervising"

My thermostat read 86 degrees when it turned on. Miserable
