    Backe doing what he does best. Wouldn't want to go losing that lead at the top of the home runs given up leaderboard now would he?

    Backe = HOME RUN KING!

    Anyone know why Brandon Backe is still on the team? He has to be by far the worst pitcher I've ever seen pitch. Surely we should be sparing no expense in sending him as far away from the team as possible?

    Time for a fun over/unders game. How many outs will Backe get in tonights game?

    Over/under 4.5

    Maybe not, but most of the pitchers that I have seen are capable of throwing the ball within 3 feet of the strike zone without it getting hit 400 yards

    How many of those pitchers hadn't pitched a full season since having Tommy John surgery?

    Look, I've never been a fan of Backe and I would have no problem dumping him but he is likely to have a better season next year wherever he is, assuming he stays healthy. It often takes a pitcher a couple of seasons to come back from that kind of surgery, if they do come back at all.

    Well now that these games are must win, and Backe has pitched an enormous number of innings this year, all things considered, maybe we should put someone in there who can do a little better for the last few games of the season.

    Such as Drayton Mclane

    I hear you but there is only so much you can do when you have a very weak pool of starting pitchers and not much else ready to be called up.

    That was what I was alluding to in my last post. I've never been a fan of Backe because I don't think he's a good pitcher, before or after surgery. Early in the season, I was getting flamed for telling it like it is with Backe while many were saying he's a number 2 caliber starting pitcher. All I'm saying is that he has a good chance of being better next season but I would be fine with him pitching elsewhere.
