I got a beach house down there right by Sanddollar Rd and TX 87 (Near the Exxon)

By the looks and sound of it, 90% of it is completely wiped away, and as is our beach house. I noticed the Subway, Exxon, And everything near W. Verdie and TX87 is completely gone (near the water tower)

Damn, I am going to miss that place thats for sure...

Yeah I want to check it out as soon as we can make it over there. But right now who knows when that will be.

Sorry for your loss but at least you weren't in it when it got destroyed. As long as you are still healthy and alive a loss of a beach house is a small thing.

Sorry about the house ... hope your insurance covers it.

It's kinda surreal to think that Crystal Beach is no more. That was Houston's beach. Dirty water and all. That was our beach.

Here is a website with constant updated pictures if anyone wants to see. Most of it's gone that's for sure...

At least the water will not be as dirty for a little while. Enjoy it while you can.

Is it true that this was the worst storm surge in the last 40 years? I just got power back and haven't been able to see TV or any reports. Our generator was running only the frig and freezer.

Just remembered... my dad has some property on Surfside... I don't think there's anything left on his street.

We have a friend that's a Constable there, and he's been making rounds. MOst everything on the other side of the levee in Freeport heading toward water was either water damaged or is gone.

Sorry to hear about the losses guys. It's truly monumental how much things were just wiped out. You have to think that the building codes will change drastically now.

What still sucks is that we have over 70 days remaining in hurricane season.

Probably not unless there is something about a lot of the houses that failed in the same way. It would be impractical to mandate building hurricane proof houses especially when at least hurricanes can at least be predicted coming ahead of time for evacuation.

Very sad to see those pics...especially the before and after shots. I've had some very good times at Crystal Beach. :(
