Obama breaks his own fundraising record in August.

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama raised more than $66 million in August, marking a record fundraising month for his campaign.

The campaign also added 500,000 new donors during the month.

excellent news. Obama will need all the money he can to fight the negative and lying ads by McCain's campaign.

Sounds like that money's going to great use - McCain has been gaining ground!

    Good for Obama.

Those private contributions will serve him well after he lied about vowing to use public funds for his campaign.

It will allow him to lie when he promised not to resort to negative political attacks.

It will allow him to endorse one fallacious ad after another.

In spirit Obama did lie about public financing. Technically he did not. Also with more than one million people donating to his campaign, it is definitely very public financing.

He never said he wouldn't use negative political attacks. He said he wouldn't use negative personal attacks, and he has lived up to that.

If you believe his ads are fallacious, please show the fallacies. Because we know that McCain lied about Obama's vote on the bill that would protect Kindergarten students from sexual predators, and he lied about Palin's earmarks. Those have been shown.

It appears that you aren't defending McCain just trying to attack Obama. That might be quite telling.

No he has not. He's simply had his minions do his personal attacks, including the legions of Obama-donating Kos worshippers

Bristol Palin, anybody? Shameful personal attack

Doesn't Obama have to raise even more than that these coming months to match how much the Republican party can spend. McCain wanted Obama to stick to public financing because he knew that would give McCain the advantage since the republican party has ridiculous amounts of money to spend on his behalf.

^ As much was known to Obama in October of 07 when he made his promise to aggressively pursue a campaign based on public funding.

Your moniker is sort of undermining your argument...

Wrong. If that is your standard, then I could say McCain has unleashed his horde of racist bigots who are claiming that Obama is a Muslim who was sworn into the Senate using the Koran.

In fact Obama spent much of the campaign reigning in the 527's that would attack on his behalf. He's stopped that effort now, but McCain never even did that.

Again your answer is not a defense of McCain just an attack on Obama.

It is very telling that nobody is defending the charges against McCain. Their only hope is to try and attack Obama.

    Very telling indeed.

Another plain-as-day example of Barack making a personal attack is his cute-sy lipstick on a pig comment. It was clearly meant for Ms Palin. Clearly.

Not only have you shown yourself incapable of basic comprehension you still fail to defend McCain.

Yet another misguided attack on Obama, but STILL no defense of McCain. You must really have no faith in McCain. Thank you for making that more and more clear.

I would like to say, though not as an official spokesman of the university, that parents considering sending their children to Rice should not take texx/TJ's crippling lack of logic to be an indictment of the University, which is a fine institution that has fostered many bright minds. Remember, even Yale couldn't turn Bush around...
